Dow Corning 796 PVC-U Wood Aluminium Silicone

    £4.19 £3.30

Dow Corning 796 is a one-part, PVC-U, Aluminium & Wood Silicone Sealant. It is a low modulus, neutral cure silicone, specifically developed for the sealing of PVC-U, glass, glazed surfaces and brickwork.

    How to use

Clean all joints of release agents, water repellents, dust, dirt, old sealants and other contaminants which could impair adhesion.

Nonporous surfaces should be cleaned by wiping with a suitable solvent such as DOW CORNING R40 Universal Cleaner on oil and lint-free cloth.

    Preparation Dow Corning 796

Masking areas adjacent to the joints should be masked with tape to prevent contamination of the substrates and to ensure a neat sealant line. Masking tape should be removed immediately after tooling.

    £3.95 £1.42

Everbuild Everflex 195 Siliconised Acrylic Sealant is a siliconised acrylic sealant, suitable for internal and external use, that provides a permanently flexible long lasting seal which adheres to virtually all materials. Everbuild Everflex 195 has a powerful fungicide to prevent mould growth and improved adhesion characteristics when compared to conventional acrylic sealants.

    USES

    – PVCu profile, trim and cladding.
    – Internal sealing around PVCu window and door frames.
    – Sealing cracks and gaps in brickwork, stone & plaster.
    – An adhesive for bonding polystyrene coving and tiles.
    – An adhesive for bonding cork tiles and wood block flooring.
    – Gap and crack filler prior to decorating.

    CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES

    – Permanently flexible.
    – Adheres to most surfaces.
    – Mould resistant.
    – Easy cleanup.

    APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

    SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be clean and dust free. Highly porous surfaces should first be primed with Everbuild PVA bond diluted 1:4 with water.

    APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS

Using a shrap knife, cut the tip of the cartridge. Take care not to damage the thread. Apply using a standard sealant gun. Ideally, the joint depth should be half of the width. Smooth down within 20 minutes of application using a wetted spatula or piece of wood. You should take care at this point not to soak the surface because this will delay drying. The product can be overpainted after 60 minutes.

    CLEANING TOOLS

Any excess sealant can be cleaned away using a sponge dampened in lukewarm water.

    LIMITATIONS

    – Not for use in conjunction with bitumen.
    – Do not attempt to abrade when cured.
    – Can not be used around shower trays.
    – Overpainting is not necessary. However, the product can be painted.

Note: this product is flexible. Certain inferior quality paints (especially certain vinyl matts) have minimal movement in the dry film. It is possible for the dry paint film to crack if the movement is excessive. Should not be used in a condition of continuous immersion, below ground level, in areas of high abrasion (e.g. floor joints).
