Product Description:
Mapei Malech Primer is a micronized acrylic-based primer in water dispersion.
It’s generally used as a primer for wall surfaces, for example, concrete or cement mortar repairs. Before applying a coloured finishing coat of Elastocolor Paint or Elastocolor Rasante, it is advised to use Malech as a regulator of substrate absorption.
Malech can also be used in the Aquaflex System cycle for the permanent encapsulation of asbestos, or as a primer for the covering layers of Aquaflex.
It’s a micronized acrylic resin-based primer in water dispersion that penetrates better than traditional water-based primers.
Mapei Elastocolor is a protective and decorative elastic paint based on acrylic resins in water dispersion.
It is used to protect concrete and cement surfaces from aggressive agents in the atmosphere.
Once dried, Elastocolor forms a very elastic film that’s impermeable to water but still permeable to vapour. At the same time it gives the treated structure a nice, aesthetic appearance. Due to its elastic characteristics, Elastocolor protects and waterproofs concrete structures and renders that have hair-line cracks present. It forms a bridge over the cracks creating a strong and continuous seal.
Mapei Malech Primer is the first step in this two part process. Priming your render so it is in optimum condition for your chosen Elastocolor coating.
1 – Apply the Malech Primer; one coat over all areas to be treated. Leave to dry for 24 hours.
2 – Apply Mapei Elastocolor to your primed render ensuring an even coat is applied. Leave to dry for 24 hours.
3 – Apply a second final coat to complete the process. If a third coat is needed, allow 24 hours drying time as per previous steps.
