ARBO Arbokol 1025 SP is a two-part epoxy joint sealant engineered for demanding environments where long-term water resistance, chemical durability, and mechanical performance are essential. It is primarily specified for internal stress-relief and compression joint systems rather than structural movement joints.
Once cured, Arbokol 1025 SP forms a hard-wearing seal capable of accommodating limited tensile movement (up to 5%) and significant compression movement (up to 50%). This makes it particularly suitable for joints that experience compressive forces rather than elongation, such as tile-to-tile joints, pool surrounds, and rigid substrates subject to load or vibration.
The product is widely used in continuously wet or water-immersed environments, including swimming pools, shower areas, and plant rooms. Its resistance to common cleaning chemicals, dilute acids, alkalis, fuels, and disinfectants makes it well suited to hygiene-critical areas where frequent cleaning regimes are required.
Correct joint preparation is critical to performance. All joint faces must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as grease, laitance, or old sealant residues. Degreasing should be carried out using an appropriate cleaner recommended by the manufacturer. Where required, closed-cell polyethylene backing rod should be installed to control joint depth and prevent three-sided adhesion, in line with BS 8000-16.
Arbokol 1025 SP is supplied in pre-measured units to ensure the correct base-to-curing-agent ratio. Both components must be mixed thoroughly until a uniform colour and consistency are achieved. Partial mixing or incorrect ratios will compromise cure and performance. At 20°C, the typical work life allows sufficient time for placement, with full chemical cure achieved after approximately 48 hours. Lower temperatures will extend curing time, and immersion should only take place once full cure has been reached.
Application is typically carried out using bulk loading guns or cartridge systems, ensuring the mixed sealant is fully compacted into the joint. Joint widths between 6mm and 20mm are suitable in a single application, with depth controlled according to substrate type.
When installed correctly, Arbokol 1025 SP delivers long-term durability, chemical resistance, and dependable joint integrity in challenging wet and internal environments.
