    Mapeflex Firestop 1200 °C is a one-component, asbestos-free, quick-setting, rigid, silicate refractory fire resistant sealing grout, high temperatures and fumes.
    Ideal for making rigid seals in chimneys, ovens, radiators, barbecues, flues and fire-break walls. Also suitable for pointing or for installation layers on refractory bricks when building or carrying out maintenance work on elements in continuous, permanent contact with flames or heat up to +1200°C, with temporary peak temperatures up to +1600°C.

    Some application examples are rigid grouting of joints, for missing areas and installation layers for new elements in contact with flames or at very high temperatures when in service.

    It is most frequently used for the following applications:
    – ovens;
    – chimneys;
    – radiators;
    – barbecues;
    – flues;
    – rigid fire-break joints.

    Bonds to all porous, absorbent substrates after the contact surface has been cleaned and dampened with water.

    TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

    Mapeflex Firestop 1200°C is a soft paste in emulsion which forms rigid grout when the water contained in it has evaporated off. When large quantities are applied, fresh
    paste on the hardened layer may be required. Mapeflex FireStop 1200°C must be applied and left to dry at room temperature and then the substrate must be gradually heated up after at least 24 hours at +23°C.

    Mapeflex Firestop 1200°C is a rigid, non-deformable sealant, Similarly to grout, it is made from sodium silicate and special mineral fillers and is completely free of hazardous toxic substances, such as asbestos.
    When fully hardened, Mapeflex Firestop 1200°C is a class A1 non-combustible product according to EN 13501.

    When Mapeflex Firestop 1200°C comes into contact with fire or heat it does not increase in volume.

    Mapeflex Firestop 1200°C is odourless and contains no solvents.

    RECOMMENDATIONS –

    Do not apply in these conditions , for instance –

    –  On dusty or crumbly surfaces.
    – Surfaces with stagnant water or with capillary rising damp.
    –  Joints that are subject to cyclical movements.
    – Or use on surfaces exposed to frequent contact with rainwater or high levels of humidity.

    Other recommendations –

    – Wear protective gloves and goggles when handling the product.
    – Remove traces of excess sealant immediately after smoothing it over with a damp sponge.
    – Different masses in the first volume of product extruded do not compromise the efficiency of the sealant.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE

    Preparation of the surface for bonding or sealing all surfaces to be bonded or sealed must be dry or slightly damp, sound and free of dust, loose parts, oil, grease, wax, old paintwork and rust on metal surfaces.

    Preparation and application of Mapeflex Firestop 1200°C – Insert the cartridge in an extrusion gun, cut off the tip of the cartridge, screw on the extrusion nozzle, trim the nozzle at an angle of 45° and according to the extruded width required and squeeze out the product in a continuous flow into the joint while trying to avoid air entering the joint.

    To avoid the sealant seeping out of the joint and to get a more attractive finish, we recommend applying masking tape along the edges of the joint.

    When pointing joints of refractory bricks on new or old structures, remove all loose parts to form a section suitable for the sealant at least 5×5 mm. Dampen absorbent substrates to avoid
    the extruded sealant drying out too quickly.

    On substrates at the surrounding temperature (up to +35°C) apply the sealant by extruding it from the cartridge with a conventional silicone gun & fill the section with sealant. After that, smooth over the surface with something damp, for instance, a sponge and remove all excess material before it hardens. After that, the hardened material excess may only be removed mechanically.

    CONSUMPTION

    • For pointing joints: 5×5 mm section approx. 12 m per cartridge
    • 10×10 mm section approx. 3 per cartridge.
    • For laying refractory bricks: approx. 4 m per cartridge.

    CLEANING

    Clean all tools immediately after use with water.
    Once hardened, the product may only be removed mechanically.

  • Mapei Fuga Fresca – Grout Reviver (26 Colours)

    Mapei Fuga Fresca

    Mapei Fuga Fresca grout reviver is designed to be the perfect product for giving old and stained grout that new look finish. The Fuga comes in a small, blue handheld, shoe polish style case with a foam applicator end. A shake and a squeeze will fill the foam end with the Fuga paint ready for application.

    During application, there can be some overlay onto the tiles (or another surface that the grout in between). This can be cleaned off, but we recommend that you do so as you go, so it doesn’t have time to dry. A good cleaning product would be Everbuild wonder wipes, that can be found here, or you can use a damp sponge. As it is water based, any residue will be easy to remove providing this is done as the product is applied.

    RECOMMENDATIONS

    Areas of use, simply put, any internal grout, it is not recommended for external grout or any grout that is constantly immersed in water, i.e. swimming pools, basins etc. Epoxy grout is an exception as it is already stain proof. It would also be advised not to use the Fuga Fresca on friable grout, anything loose or not crumbly, as it simply won’t work. If after the first application the colour difference between the original grout and the first coat of Fuga, it may be the case of needing an additional coat to strengthen the colour. This only works on grout, please do not use on silicone.

    APPLICATION

    Ensure that the joints are free from loose parts, dirt and any mould free. Once cleaned, the grout joint needs to be dry before the application of the Fuga Fresca and after the application any overlay on the tiles to be removed as mentioned above. Once finished with the Fuga Fresca, it’s advised to thoroughly clean the sponge end; this can be done by running it under a tap.

    Keracolor FF is a high performance cementitious grout, polymer modified, for joints up to 6 mm.

     

    WHERE TO USE

    Grouting interior and exterior floor and wall tiling (single fired, double fired, klinker, porcelain tile, etc.), stone material (natural stones, marble, granite, agglomerates, etc.), glass and marble mosaics.

    Some application examples;

    – Grouting floor and ceramic wall tiles in interiors.

    – Grouting swimming pools.

    TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

    Keracolor FF is a blend of cement, very fine-graded aggregates, special polymers, additives and pigments. The use of special hydrophobic additives (DropEffect and BioBlock technology) gives grouting mortars highly water-repellent properties, making them less prone to dirtiness and with excellent durability. The addition of BioBlock® technology resists the growth of mould and mildew, allowing the grout to be easily cleaned.

    The following features are obtained when mixed with the right water ratio and used correctly:

    – water-repellent and droplet-effect;

    – mould and mildew resistant

    – good compressive and flexural strength, good resistance to freeze/thaw cycles, and therefore good durability;

    – a smooth final surface with low water absorption, therefore easy to clean;

    – excellent abrasion resistance;

    – low shrinkage, therefore an absence of cracks and fissures;

    – good resistance to acids with pH >3;

    – excellent value for performance.

    When mixing Keracolor FF with Fugolastic, a special synthetic resin-based polymeric additive, the final characteristics are improved for use even under harsh conditions (grouting façades, swimming pools, bathrooms, floors with heavy traffic).     RECOMMENDATIONS

    – Do not mix Keracolor FF with cement or any other products. Never add water to the mixture that is beginning to set.

    – Do not blend different grout colours together as there is a risk of colour inconsistency and lack of uniformity of the final shade once the grout has set.

    • excellent resistance to abrasion;

    • low shrinkage rate, therefore free of cracks and crevices;

    • good resistance to acids with pH > 3;

    • excellent cost-performance ratio. By mixing Keracolor SF with Fugolastic, a special synthetic resin-based polymeric admixture, its final characteristics are further improved, and it reaches a level of strength that makes it suitable for even the most severe in-service conditions (grouting façades, swimming pools, bathrooms and even floors subject to heavy traffic).     – Excellent mechanical and chemical resistance, therefore excellent durability.
    – A smooth final surface with low water absorption, therefore easy to clean; ensures hygiene.
    – Easy workability and finishing.
    – Becomes very hard and is highly resistant to heavy traffic.
    – No shrinkage, therefore absence of cracks and fissures.
    – Uniform colours that are resistant to ultra-violet rays and atmospheric agents.
    – Excellent bonding.

    RECOMMENDATIONS

    – Because of the tessara’s reduced thickness, Kerapoxy can also be used for grouting glass mosaics with joints less than 3 mm.
    – When grouting ceramic tiled floors and walls subject to oleic acid attack (e.g. ham and sausage industries, oil-mills, etc.) and aromatic hydrocarbon, Kerapoxy IEG can be used (available in 113 or 130 reference colour of MAPEI range).
    – For flexible expansion joints or joints subject to movement, use an elastic sealant from the MAPEI line (e.g. Mapesil AC, Mapesil LM, Mapeflex PU45 FT or Mapeflex PU21).
    – Kerapoxy does not ensure perfect adhesion when used for grouting tiles with wet edges or contaminated with cement, dust, oil, grease, etc.
    – Unglazed klinker tiles should be grouted with the same colour tone Kerapoxy. All other colours should be used only with glazed tiles.
    – Do not use Kerapoxy for grouting terracotta tiles because they are difficult to clean.
    – Make preliminary sample tests before grouting porcelain tiles with a contrasting colour of Kerapoxy (e.g. black on white).
    – Always carry out preliminary tests before grouting stone or ground porcelain with a porous or rough surface.
    – Do not add water or any solvents to Kerapoxy to make it more fluid.
    – Use the product in temperatures between +12°C and +30°C.
    – The quantities are already in the correct proportions; therefore, mistakes should not be made. Do not guess the quantities when mixing the two components. A wrong catalysis ratio could impair the hardening process. – When removing already cured Kerapoxy from the joints, use a hot air industrial drier. Remove hardened Kerapoxy from the tiles with Pulicol 2000.
    – When grouting large floor surface areas, it is recommended to use Kerapoxy P, available in grey 113 of MAPEI range (other colours are available upon request for quantities higher than 300 kg) because it is very fluid and easy to apply.

    Pour all the hardener (component B) into a bucket containing component A and mix well until a smooth paste is obtained. For perfect mixing and avoiding overheating of the mixture, which could reduce working time, a low speed electric stirrer should be used. Use the paste within 45 minutes from mixing.

    Applying the grout
    Spread Kerapoxy with the appropriate MAPEI float, making sure the joints are completely filled. Use the same float, but on edge, to remove excess grout.

    Finishing
    After grouting with Kerapoxy, floors and walls should be cleaned immediately before the product dries.
    Wet the surface thoroughly and emulsify with an abrasive pad for cleaning joints (such as Scotch-Brite® or MAPEI tile-joint cleaning kit), making sure not to wash out the joints. When cleaning walls, the cleaning pad should be fully soaked with water. The excess liquid can be removed with a hard cellulose sponge (e.g. MAPEI sponge) and should be replaced when too full of resin. Use the same type of sponge for the final tooling of the grout. It is very important that once the finishing process has ended, no traces of Kerapoxy are left on the tile surface because it will be very difficult to remove. It is, therefore, necessary to frequently rinse the sponge with clean water during the cleaning process.
    When finishing large floor surface areas, use a rotary, disc-type power float with Scotch-Brite® abrasive pads, well saturated with water. All excess liquid can be removed with a rubber squeegee. The final cleaning cycle may be carried out using Kerapoxy Cleaner (special cleaning solution for epoxy grout). Kerapoxy Cleaner may also be used to remove thin residues of grout several hours after application. In such cases, the product must be left to react for longer (15-20 mins.).
    The efficiency of Kerapoxy Cleaner depends on the amount of resin residues and how much time has passed since application. Cleaning must always be carried out while “fresh”, as described above.

    WHERE TO USE

Kerapoxy CQ allows you to create floors, walls and worktops, etc., in compliance with the HACCP system and the requirements of EC Regulation No. 852/2004 regarding hygiene and foodstuffs. This is a product with very low emission of volatile organic compounds and is classified Emicode EC1 R Plus by GEV when used for grouting.

    When applied correctly, it produces tile joints with the following characteristics:

    • excellent mechanical strength and resistance to chemicals, therefore excellent durability;
    • smooth and compact, surface finish which is non-absorbent and easy to clean; guarantees a high level of hygiene and blocks the formation of mildew and mould;
    • high degree of hardness, excellent resistance to heavy traffic;
    • no shrinkage and, therefore, no cracking;
    • uniform colour, resistant to atmospheric agents;
    • excellent workability, highly improved compared with traditional epoxy mortars thanks to its creamy consistency, which guarantees faster application times and makes it easier to clean the surfaces, with less waste and easier to obtain a good finish.

    RECOMMENDATIONS

    • Even if it already seems clean after passing over the surface with a rubber float, always clean the surface using a Scotch-Brite pad and water to emulsify traces of resin on the surface, which could otherwise modify the final surface finish.
    • Use Kerapoxy IEG to grout ceramic, and where floor finishes will be subject to attack by oleic acids (ham curers, sausage factories, oil mills, etc.) and aromatic hydrocarbons.
    • Use a flexible sealant from the MAPEI range (such as Mapesil AC, Mapesil LM or Mapeflex PU45 FT) for flexible expansion joints or joints subject to movement.
    • Kerapoxy CQ does not guarantee perfect bonding if the edges of the tiles are wet or contaminated with cement, dust, oil, grease, etc., during grouting.
    • Do not use Kerapoxy CQ to grout terracotta tiles, the finish of the tiles may be altered.
    • Always carry out preliminary tests before grouting stone or ground porcelain with a porous or rough surface.
    • Do not add water or solvents to Kerapoxy CQ to increase its workability. • Use the product at temperatures between +12°C and +30°C. However, at temperatures below +15, °C application may be more difficult.
    • The packages are pre-dosed, and, therefore, it is not possible to make mixing errors if all the contents are mixed. Do not rough guess the quantities when mixing the two components: hardening will be compromised if the catalysing ratio is wrong.
    • If hardened and Kerapoxy CQ has to be removed from the joints, use an industrial hot air blower. If hardened localised residues of the product remain bonded to the tiles, use Pulicol 2000 for cleaning.

    Decorative grouting of internal and external tiled floors and walls, in particular for glass mosaic. Also suitable for an acid resistant bond to all substrates normally used in the building industry. Kerapoxy Design allows you to create floors, walls, worktops etc., in compliance with the HACCP system and the requirements of EC Regulation No. 852/2004 regarding hygiene and foodstuffs.

    TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

    Kerapoxy Design is a two-component, decorative, epoxy resin-based grout, with silica sand and other special components, with excellent chemical resistance and easy cleaning properties. This is a product with very low emission of volatile organic compounds and is classified Emicode EC1 R Plus by GEV when used for grouting. Kerapoxy Design may be mixed with up to 10% by weight of MapeGlitter, metalised coloured glitter, to create particular special effects. The percentage depends on the aesthetical effect and workability desired. MapeGlitter is available in silver and light gold and another 22 colours on request.

    When applied correctly, Kerapoxy Design forms tile joints with the following characteristics:

    • translucent effect improves the chromatic effect of finishes with particularly decorative characteristics;
    • semitransparent finish, very similar to glass mosaic, guarantees better luminosity, lustre and appearance of the mosaic;
    • excellent mechanical strength and chemical resistance, therefore excellent durability;
    • leaves a final smooth and compact surface, which is non-absorbent and easy to clean; guarantees a high level of hygiene and blocks the formation of mildew and mould;
    • excellent workability, highly improved compared with traditional epoxy mortars thanks to its creamy consistency, which guarantees a faster application, less waste and makes it easier to clean the surface of the mosaic, and to obtain a good finish;

    • Kerapoxy Design leaves a semitransparent, translucent finish, and the final colour may vary depending on the type and colour of mosaics on which it is applied and the adhesive colour used for bonding. This variation must be considered if the grout is used for different types of tiles in the same room.
    • If porcelain tiles are grouted with a contrasting colour of Kerapoxy Design (for example, black on white), carry out preliminary tests beforehand.
    • Always carry out preliminary tests before grouting stone or ground porcelain with a porous or rough surface.
    • Do not add water or solvents to Kerapoxy Design to increase its workability.
    • Do not use Kerapoxy Design to grout joints that are wider than 7 mm. • Use the product at temperatures between +12°C and +30°C.

    MapeGlitter can be added to Kerapoxy Design at rates of up to 10% by weight to form grouting mortar with a sparkly, metallic finish, and is particularly recommended for metallic tiles and vitreous tiles and mosaics. This will give an easily cleanable impervious grout finish.

    MapeGlitter may also be added to Mapelux Lucida at rates of 1% to 3%, according to the finish and tone required, to obtain sparkly finishes on internal walls. MapeGlitter may also be added to Flexcolor grout at rates of approximately 5% by weight to form grouting mortar with a sparkly metallic finish.

    TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

    MapeGlitter is available in silver, light gold, purple, pastel violet, pink, violet, fuchsia, red, copper, black, brown, bronze, sand, medium blue, pastel green, green, bottle green, burnished, pastel sky, sky, royal blue, dark blue and night blue. When mixed correctly, it forms grouting mortar and wall finishes with the following characteristics:

    RECOMMENDATIONS

    Never use more than the recommended dose of MapeGlitter. Do not use MapeGlitter in swimming pools and for external applications.

    HOW TO USE

    Mixed with Kerapoxy Design
    Add up to 10% by weight of MapeGlitter directly to blended (component A+B) Kerapoxy Design, according to the effect and finish required. Mix until an even blend is obtained. Apply the Kerapoxy Design/MapeGlitter blend within 45 minutes of mixing.

    Mixed with Mapelux Lucida
    Add MapeGlitter directly to Mapelux Lucida wax (mixed with approximately 5% of water), according to the effect and finish required. Mix until an even blend is obtained.

    Mixed with Flexcolor
    Decant Flexcolor into a clean mixing vessel, add 2-3 sachets of MapeGlitter and mix until an even blend is obtained.

    – In conclusion, the surface of certain tiles or stone material may have micro-porosity or a rough surface. We advise carrying out a preliminary test to check how easy it is to clean the surface where necessary to apply a protective treatment to the surface. In other words, this is to ensure the grout does not penetrate into the surface porosity of the tiles.

  • MAPESIL AC – Internal Silicone Sealants – All Colours

    MAPESIL AC is a high quality, mould resistant sealant, which is ideal for internal use but can also be used in external applications. The product comes in a 310ml cartridge & has a range of 42 colours to choose from. Mapei also colour match this product to their Ultracolor plus grout range, creating a seamless transition between grout & silicone lines when used together.

    RECOMMENDATIONS

    – Mapesil AC should not be used in applications between joints of ceramic tiles & natural stone of light colour externally. Use Mapesil LM, which can be viewed here.
    – Should not be used for sealing of surfaces sensitive to acids, such as limestone. Again, use Mapesil LM.
    – Do not use on bituminous surfaces or highly plasticized material.
    – Mapesil AC’s chemical resistance to agents is typically excellent. However, we advise you to check the technical data sheet or do a small test.

    APPLICATION

    All areas needing application must be solid, free from dust and loose particles, oils, grease, wax, old paint and rust. To guarantee the seal can carry out its function, provision should be made for it to compress freely.

    During application, it is, therefore, necessary that:

    – Mapei AC only adheres to the side of the walls of the joint and not to be used at the base of the joint;
    – The estimated maximum extension should be no higher than 25% of the initial width (calculated at +20°C). The joint should be sized with this in mind

    – Joint width and depth must follow as below:

    10mm Width = 10mm Depth

    11mm – 20mm Width = 10mm Depth

    20mm or above Width = Half of the width in depth.

    With the Mapesil AC, cut the cartridge at the end of the thread and screw supplied nozzle on. Ensure the nozzle is cut at an angle and dimension to the corresponding joint. Insert the cartridge into the gun and expel the sealant.

    We have a number of tools on our website that would assist with the application of this product. We would recommend using a PC Cox Skeleton Gun to apply & a Bond-it Tooling Kit to aid in providing a professional finish.

Mapei Silicone Sealants

Mapei silicone sealants are mold and mildew-resistant suitable for interior and exterior applications. The sealant is solvent-free which is ideal for use underwater. It is also available in a variety of colours and transparent to match the Mapei coloured grouts.

This range of sealants is suitable for use on glass, anodised aluminium, and ceramic. For effective results, combine it with a bonding enhancer. The Mapei range of sealants is highly elastic and can be used for expansion of joints up to ± 25%.

The sealants also have excellent durability and can weather long use as well as exposure to different elements. Their thermal stability allows use at -40°C to +180°C. For best results, after application, finish off with a damp cloth moistened with soapy water before the sealant forms a film.

Mapei Mapesil Silicone can be used for a wide variety of applications. These include sealing joints in floor and wall coverings both ceramic and cemented, sealing joints between sinks, ceramic tiles, and sanitary ware, sealing swimming pool expansion joints, and sealing window and door frame glazing among others.

These sealants are a single component and acetic cross-linking variety. Being a thixotropic paste, the sealant is also easily trowelable vertically and horizontally. The sealant works by cross linking and forming an elastic product after exposure to humidity. The resulting product is waterproof, highly elastic, chemical resistant, and easily workable.
