Sika Aktivator 205 is a 1 part liquid, that is used to maximise adhesion on a range of non-porous substrates such as plastics, metals, ceramic screen prints and painted surfaces. The manufacturer advises a performance test on original substrates prior to using Sika Aktivator-205 on materials liable to suffer stress cracking. It is recommended that this product should only be used by an experienced professional.
Areas must be dry, clean and free from grease, oil, dust and any other contaminants. Adhesion on substrates may be improved by adding and/or combining pre-treatment processes such as scuffing and cleaning before Sika aktivator 205 is applied.
Wipe bond surfaces with a clean, lint-free paper towel moistened (not wet) with Sika® Aktivator-205. Never dip the towel into the activator. Only wipe the surface with a fresh towel. Do not wet the same paper towel twice and be sure to change it frequently.
Sika Aktivator 205 has to be applied sparingly as an excess of activator could lead to failure of adhesion.
If a pre-treated area is not bonded within the maximum finish-off time, the activation process has to be repeated (once only).
Typical application and surface temperature are between 15 °C and 25 °C.
The information herein is offered only as general guidance. Advice on specific applications is available on request from the Technical Department of Sika Industry. Working instructions issued for a defined use may further specify technical data contained in this Product Data Sheet.

Sika Hyflex 250 Facade is a 1-component, moisture-curing, low-modulus elastic joint sealant.
Sika Hyflex 250 Facade is designed for the elastic joint sealing and waterproofing of movement and connection joints in buildings. Due to its very low modulus, it is also suitable for EIFS Facades.
– Excellent weathering resistance
– Bubble-free curing
– Low stress to the substrate
– Perfect extrusion and workability
– Excellent adhesion to many different substrates
– Solvent-free
– Very low emissions
Substrates must be clean, dry and homogeneous, free from oils, grease, dust and loose or friable particles. The product adheres without primers and/or activators. However, for optimum adhesion and critical, high-performance applications, such as highly stressed joints & extreme weather exposure or water immersion, the following priming or pre-treatment procedures shall be followed:
Before applying the sealant, allow a flash-off time of > 15 minutes (< 6 hours). However, metals such as copper, brass and titanium-zinc have to be cleaned. Using Sika Aktivator-205, wipe the solution on with a clean cloth or towel. After the recommended flash-off time, use a clean brush to apply Sika Primer-3 N and then allow additional flash-off time of > 30 minutes (< 8 hours) before sealing the joints.
Cement based renders, concrete, aerated concrete and bricks need to be primed using Sika Primer-3 N. Clean off any dust with a dry brush & then apply the primer with a separate brush. Allow a flash off time of 30minutes to 8 hours before sealing.
For more advice and instructions, please contact Sika Technical Services.
Note: Primers help with improving adhesion. They do not substitute for the correct cleaning of a surface & they do not enhance the strength of the surface significantly.
The sealant is ready to use. After the necessary surface preparation, insert a backing rod to the required depth and apply any primer if needed. Furthermore, insert a foil pack into the sealant gun and apply sealant into the joint, making sure that the sealant comes into full contact with the sides of the joint and avoids any air entrapment.
All tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with Sika® Remover-208 and/or Everbuild Wonder Wipes. Once set, residual material can only be removed mechanically.
Sika Hyflex 250 Facade can be painted with a number of facade coatings. However, it is advised you carry out preliminary trials to check.
– Colour variations may occur due to exposure to chemicals & high temperatures. However, a change in colour is pure of aesthetic nature and does not influence the technical performance.
– Before using Sika Hyflex 250 Facade on natural stone, please refer to Sika Technical Service for advice.
– Do not use Sika Hyflex 250 Facade on bituminous substrates, natural rubber, EPDM rubber or on any building materials which might bleed oils, plasticisers or solvents.
– Do not expose uncured Sika Hyflex 250 Facade to alcohol-containing products as this may interfere with the curing reaction.
