With the construction industry having a lot to answer for in the world of sustainability, we wanted to make a move into sourcing items which have a healthy family history. Although slow, new products are trickling through whether that be in the recycled plastics being used, biodegradability, environmentally friendly ingredients, or complete reusable kits, every little step helps to push the market forward.
So, without further ado… Let us introduce you to our sustainable heroes!

Starting of STRONG, is the Bond It RELOAD – Reusable Silicone Cartridge System.
Available in a variety of sealants from the Bond It silicone range, this system entails loading an empty refillable cartridge sleeve with foils to really cut down on the plastic waste of cartridges. Each cartridge can be used on average 75 times meaning less waste and lower cost compared to single use sealants.
The RELOAD system is available in a range of options such as full kits, foil refills and the option to rebuy the reusable cartridge separately. The sealants available are:
Soudal are really ahead of the game with their sustainability as a company. Their hand held foam lids have moved over to 80% post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR), meaning only recycled plastics such as water bottles are used in the manufacturing process.
Their new recycled product is the T-Rex Grab Adhesive. T-rex is the first super strength fibre-enforced adhesive of its kind from Soudal, earning itself the tagline ‘80% recycled, 100% strong’. The cartridge is made from 80% recycled raw materials giving it the second plinth in our sustainability campaign.
They come in a bag instead of a plastic tub meaning less plastic, and they last much longer! The wipes are also biodegradable so again, less harm to the planet. Cleaning with a conscience.
This little wonder is a cement, concrete, and mortar cleaner with a low chemical impact to the environment. It’s safer that traditional stain removers which usually contain high levels of hydrochloric acids, and it doesn’t need to be diluted. Definitely packs an eco-punch! Available in 1 litre bottles.
Last but not least is the Eco Hydro Clean. Although last, it doesn’t mean it’s our least favourite! This little baby is amazing for removing ingrained dirt and stains from PVC frames, claddings, trims, etc. Being solvent free means it’s low hazard and much kinder to the environment. A safer way to get prepping and cleaning without a second thought.
We are continuously looking into new products which carry on the sustainability shield. We are also looking into ways in which us as a company can make ourselves a little greener. We are almost paper free, we recycle everything completely possible and with the price of energy bills, its much easier to ensure lights and unnecessary equipment is turned off if not in use. There are lots of steps in the 2023 SSL calendar which are going to better our carbon footprint so watch this space!
