SP510 is a one-component, non-sagging hybrid polymer sealant and adhesive with low modulus and low slump, even at warmer temperatures. It cures with air humidity to form a tack-free surface and provides excellent resistance to light, ageing, and weathering. SP510 is ideal for long-term elastic sealing of window and door perimeter joints, as well as movement joints between construction components, and is suitable for indoor* (excluding bathrooms/sanitary areas) and outdoor applications. It is compatible with metals and most construction materials, offering excellent adhesive performance and easy application.

Key points
– Easy to tool with good grab properties
– Excellent adhesive for a variety of substrates
– Free from isocyanates, silicone, and solvents
– Low slump and can be painted over

Storage – Store in shaded dry conditions between +5°C and +25°C.

Suitable for:
– Long-term elastic sealing of window and door perimeter joints
– Sealing movement joints between construction components
– Suitable for indoor* (excluding bathrooms/sanitary areas) and outdoor use
– Compatible with metals and most construction materials

Joint Design Considerations
– Design joints in accordance with BS 6093.
– Maximum movement capability of SP510 is 20% for joint width calculations per ISO 11600.
– Minimum joint width: 5 mm; typical maximum: 30 mm. For joints larger than 30 mm, contact Tremco CPG for project-specific advice.
– Width-to-depth ratio: typically 2:1, minimum 1:1. MAF is reduced at smaller ratios.
– Minimum contact area with substrates should ensure a quality bond; contact Tremco CPG if uncertain.
– Use PE backing rod in all movement joint applications.

Surface Preparation
– Perform a compatibility test prior to use.
– Surfaces must be clean, dry, stable, and free from grease.
– For non-porous substrates, clean with AT200 and perform a preliminary test.
– Remove loose particles from joints using a brush.
– Clean plastics and powder-coated surfaces with AT115 and confirm compatibility through testing.

Priming
– SP510 has excellent primerless adhesion to many common construction materials.
– Some substrates may require a primer—refer to the primer table for guidance.

Joint Backing
– Use a polyethylene (PE) backing rod (e.g., PR102) to ensure the sealant bonds to only two surfaces.

Application
– Use a high-quality sealant gun and cut the cartridge nozzle to the desired aperture.
– Apply sealant at temperatures between +5°C and +50°C.
– Tool all beads immediately after application to ensure full contact using smoothing tools (e.g., AA311) and a smoothing agent (e.g., AA301).

Cleaning
– Remove fresh, uncured sealant with AT115, ensuring surfaces are solvent-resistant.
– Cured sealant can only be removed mechanically.
