BAL Quickset Render is a pre-mixed, polymer-modified cement and sand quick-setting render mortar that sets in just two hours at bed depths of 2–20mm. Designed to prepare wall surfaces prior to tiling with ceramics or natural stone, it is suitable for dry or wet, internal and external environments, and can also be used as a patch repair mortar. Compatible with a wide range of backgrounds including concrete, brickwork, blockwork, lightweight concrete blocks, and plaster, BAL Quickset Render offers fast, reliable preparation with a 30-minute pot life. Simply add water to achieve quicker turnaround times and reduced downtime on site.

Designed for preparing wall surfaces before fixing most tile types, including ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone, this product is suitable for both dry and wet installations, including swimming pools. It offers rapid strength development with low shrinkage for a durable, stable finish and can also be used effectively as a patch repair mortar.
Not suitable for : Wearing surfaces, Not suitable for FLOORS.
APPLICATION/USAGE
Do NOT use in temperatures below 5°C or in damp conditions. Use a general wood float for finishing and provide construction joints following standard rendering practice.
Usage procedure
1. Apply a thin skim (1–2mm) bonding coat of BAL QUICKSET RENDER to the wall substrate.
2. While still wet, apply a single thick coat (2–20mm) of BAL QUICKSET RENDER as required, following normal rendering practice.
3. After 40–60 minutes, finish the surface using a wooden float.
Ensuring flat surface for tiling
4. Ensure the rendered surface is flat enough to achieve the required finished tiling flatness, accounting for minimum/maximum bedding thickness.
5. Check flatness with a 2m straightedge; gaps should not exceed 3mm, complying with SR1 of BS 5385 – Part 1.
TILE FIXING
The surface should have a wood float finish. At 20°C, BAL QUICKSET RENDER is ready for tiling after 2 hours (longer in cooler conditions). Tiles can be laid directly using an appropriate BAL tile adhesive.
