Bond It Rapid Set Flexible Tile Adhesive is a one-part, cement-based, fast-setting, flexible adhesive ideal for both floor and wall applications. This versatile adhesive is suitable for all types of ceramic tiles, including mosaics, porcelain, natural stone, and vitrified tiles. It can be applied to various surfaces such as timber panels, plywood, composite boards, and impermeable substrates like quarry tiles, mastic asphalt, and power-floated concrete, all without the need for a flexi-additive. Its rapid setting nature allows for light traffic within 2-3 hours, making it ideal for time-sensitive projects and areas subject to limited movement or vibration, such as those with underfloor heating systems.
Key Points:
- Rapid setting, flexible, and deformable
- No need for admixtures
- Can be grouted after 2 hours
- Suitable for ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, mosaic, marble, and natural stone tiles
Shelf Life: Minimum 12 months from the date of manufacture, as indicated on the bag, when stored in unopened sacks.
Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry location, keeping the product in its original, unopened packaging. Protect from extreme temperatures and frost.
Coverage: Coverage varies depending on the application method, substrate, and type of tiles used. However, 20kg of RAPID-FLEX typically covers approximately 6-7m² at a 3mm bed thickness.

Bond It RAPID-FLEX is a flexible, fast-setting adhesive suitable for both thick and thin bed applications, designed for bonding a wide range of tiles, including ceramic, quarry, porcelain, vitrified, natural stone, travertine, and mosaics, to walls and floors. With its quick-setting properties, tiles can be grouted just 2 hours after installation under normal conditions. RAPID-FLEX adheres to a variety of surfaces, including concrete, sand/cement screeds, building blocks, brickwork, as well as wooden and glazed surfaces. It is also compatible with underfloor heating systems. Ideal for interior use, it’s perfect for areas exposed to regular wetting, such as domestic showers and bathrooms, and does not require a separate flexible admixture.
Preparation
Ensure the substrate is clean, structurally sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, and any other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion. The surface must be strong enough to support the weight of the tiles. RAPID-FLEX can be applied to both dry and moist surfaces, but moisture-sensitive materials must be dry and remain dry after installation. For porous gypsum, aerated concrete, and interior asphalt, priming with Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE is recommended. Concrete, brick, and blockwork should be dry and fully cured (fresh concrete may take up to 3 months to cure). Painted surfaces must have loose or water-sensitive paint removed, as bonds to paint films are only as strong as the paint itself. Uneven or rough surfaces should be levelled with a suitable compound and allowed to dry. RAPID-FLEX is also suitable for wooden floors, glazed surfaces, and gloss/eggshell painted surfaces. For existing timber floors, overboard with 15mm exterior-grade plywood, securely fixed. Non-porous surfaces (like existing tiles) or gloss/eggshell painted surfaces should be primed with Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE. For underfloor heating, turn it off 48 hours before tiling, and don’t turn it back on until 48 hours after completion, gradually increasing the temperature by +5°C per day.
Mixing
Mix 20kg of RAPID-FLEX with 4L of clean water. Slowly add the powder to the water while stirring with a suitable slow-speed drill or paddle to achieve a smooth, lump-free consistency. Only mix the amount of adhesive you can use within 15 minutes. In hot weather, the pot life will be reduced, so be cautious. Do not add more water to a mixture that has started to set.
Application
Use a suitably sized notched trowel to achieve 100% adhesive coverage on the back of the tile, considering surface irregularities. Press and twist the tile into place, ensuring a minimum bed thickness of 3mm. For deep studded tiles, large format tiles, or wet areas, butter the back of the tile to improve adhesion. Regularly inspect the back of tiles to ensure proper bedding. Expansion joints should be included according to BS5385 guidelines. Avoid using the ‘dot and dab’ method of application. The final set will occur approximately 2 hours after application, depending on temperature. Clean up any excess adhesive with a damp cloth before it sets. Leave tiles undisturbed for at least 2 hours after fixing.
Grouting
Grouting can begin 2-3 hours after tiling, once the adhesive has set sufficiently to support light traffic.
Cleaning
Tools should be cleaned immediately with water after use.
