SikaSeal® Construction Silicone + is a low-modulus, fast-curing acetoxy silicone sealant designed to provide excellent flexibility, durability and long-lasting performance. Its fungal-resistant formulation helps prevent black mould growth in high-humidity environments, making it suitable for both interior and exterior applications. It forms a weather-tight, waterproof seal with minimal dirt pickup, accommodates up to ±20% joint movement, and provides strong adhesion to a wide range of substrates, including PVCu, brick, glass, aluminium, plastics and timber.

Suitable for:
– General construction joints, glazing, perimeter pointing and weather sealing.
– Sealing and perimeter pointing around PVCu, aluminium and timber window and door frames.
– Weather sealing of pre-formed panels and formwork.
– Glass-to-glass and glass-to-aluminium weather sealing.
– Sealing around PVCu profiles, trims and cladding.
– Cap glazing and remedial glazing sealing.
– General draughtproofing.
LIMITATIONS
– Do not use with bitumen or asphalt; use Weather Mate. Do not use on lead or soft metals; use Lead Mate / SikaSeal® Construction Silicone Ultra. For highly porous surfaces such as new concrete, priming is advised or use SikaSeal® Construction Silicone Ultra.
– Do not use on substrates that may bleed oils, solvents or plasticisers, or in conjunction with the edge sealant of double-glazed units. For uPVC and plastic components, always carry out an adhesion test due to variations in material quality. For optimum adhesion, use SikaSeal® Construction Silicone Ultra.
– The product accommodates movement of ±20% of the joint width. For higher movement requirements or perimeter pointing to G.G.F standards, use SikaSeal® Construction Silicone Ultra. Overpainting is not possible; where overpainting is required, use Weather Mate or Stixall.
– Do not use on cementitious substrates, including mortar, without primer. For these applications, use SikaSeal® Construction Silicone Ultra.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
– Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust. Remove loose or flaking coatings, old sealant and mastic joints before application. For optimum adhesion, clean glass, metal and aluminium with a suitable solvent cleaner. Priming is generally not required, but testing on a small area before use is recommended.
APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
– Cut the cartridge tip without damaging the thread. Fit the nozzle and cut it cleanly at a 45° angle, with the opening slightly larger than the joint. Apply using a standard sealant gun, maintaining even pressure and a consistent angle.
– Smooth the sealant within 10 minutes using a spatula or suitable tool wetted with linseed oil or white spirits. For a cleaner finish, apply masking tape to both sides of the joint and remove within 5 minutes.
– Joint design: Minimum joint width is 6 mm. Movement capacity is reduced when joint depth exceeds width. For joints up to 10 mm wide, a 5 mm depth is recommended. For 10–20 mm wide joints, depth should be at least half the width, increasing to a minimum of 10 mm for wider joints.
– For deep joints, reduce the depth using Expanding Foam or a suitable joint backer rod. Joints should be designed to prevent water retention or water traps. Triangular fillets should be at least 12 mm across the face and finished with a flat or convex surface.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
– Uncured: Sika® Wonder Wipes or white spirit.
– Cured: Silicone Eater or mechanical removal.
