ARDEX S 7 PLUS is a waterproof and tanking coating system designed to be applied before fixing ceramic tiles with an appropriate ARDEX adhesive. It creates a watertight seal for swimming pools, ensuring they remain free from leaks. The system resists water pressures up to 5 bar, and tiles can be applied to the second coat just 4 hours after application. ARDEX S 7 PLUS is easy to use—simply add water and apply by trowel for a smooth finish. It is fibre-reinforced for enhanced strength and flexibility, making it suitable for both internal and external swimming pools.

Ardex S 7 PLUS is suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
Substrate Preparation
Ensure the concrete, cement, screed, or render surface is mature, stable, and free of barriers to adhesion. Remove existing coatings or paints using mechanical equipment, and prepare well-adhered Marbelite surfaces with high-pressure water jetting or sand/water jetting. Treat non-movement cracks and joints with ARDEX SK-12 tape, and seal pipe outlets with ARDEX SK-M collars. If walls or floors require rendering or screeding before applying ARDEX S 7 PLUS, use ARDEX AM 100 for walls (2-30mm) or ARDEX K 301, S 21, or A 38 for floors (thicknesses vary). Follow the product datasheets for installation, allowing ARDEX S 7 PLUS application after 3 hours (20°C) or 24 hours for ARDEX K 301. ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be thickened to fill holes prior to the two-coat application.
Mixing
Mix a 15kg bag of ARDEX S 7 PLUS with 4 liters of water using a mixing paddle attached to a 650 rpm electric drill until a slump-free mortar is achieved. Let the mixture stand for 2-3 minutes, then remix for improved consistency. The mixed product has a pot life of approximately 60 minutes at 20°C, with variations based on temperature and thickness.
Application
Apply ARDEX S 7 PLUS with a 4mm x 4mm toothed trowel, then smooth the ribs to a 1.2mm wet thickness (1mm dry). For porous surfaces, pre-coat to fill pores before the first full coat. After the first coat hardens (4 hours at 20°C), apply the second coat. Maintain a combined minimum thickness of 1.5mm when dry. Seal movement joints, junctions, and corners with ARDEX SK tapes and collars embedded in the first coat. Ensure all areas are smooth and adequately covered.
Drying and Tile Fixing
Tiles can be fixed approximately 4 hours after the second coat dries. Refer to BS 5385-4 for guidance on work stages and pool filling times. Consult ARDEX Technical Support for recommendations on tile adhesives and grouts.
Coverage
A 15kg bag of ARDEX S 7 PLUS covers approximately 6.25m² with two coats applied (1.2kg/m²/1mm dry thickness).
Precautions
ARDEX S 7 PLUS is non-hazardous under normal use but contains cement, which can cause local irritation. Avoid prolonged skin contact, dust inhalation, or eye exposure. Refer to the Safety Datasheet for detailed guidance.
