PU220 is a low-viscosity, rapid-curing polyurethane wood adhesive that provides exceptional water resistance, making it suitable for applications exposed to frequent wetting or high humidity. It meets EN 204 (D4) standards for external use and forms strong bonds with most building materials, including damp substrates. The adhesive’s gap-filling properties allow it to achieve high-strength bonds on uneven surfaces, while its rapid curing ensures reliable performance without the need for priming or additional surface treatment.

Storage- illbruck PU220 is protected by a blanket of nitrogen in the container prior to dispatch, which forms a dry, inert layer on top of the adhesive. Store in dry shaded conditions between +5°C and +25°C.
Shelf Life – 9 months when stored as recommended in original unopened packaging.

Suitable for:
– Low-viscosity PU adhesive for rapid wood-to-wood bonding
– Full water immersion, including seawater
– Bonds wood, plastic foams, and other insulating materials to rigid and flexible facings
– Structural sandwich panels and insulated building boards used in cold stores, caravans, mobile homes, offices, and insulated building units
Application
– Apply PU220 using a trowel, notched scraper, or hand roller along the glue line. Coverage typically ranges from 80–120 ml/m² depending on substrate porosity and smoothness.
– Lightly mist the applied adhesive with water (5–7.5% by weight of the adhesive coating). Avoid excessive water.
– Assemble substrates promptly, applying pressure or clamping within the adhesive’s open time. Typical pressure is 0.5–0.9 bar and should be maintained until the adhesive can be handled.
– Full cure takes 24 hours; minimize handling during this period.
Coverage
– 80–120 ml per m², depending on substrate.
Cleaning
– Remove excess adhesive immediately with AA290 PU Foam Cleaner. Ensure surfaces are solvent-resistant before cleaning. Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically.
Please Note
– Not suitable for bonding polyethylene, polypropylene, Teflon®, or Nylon.
– Wood moisture content must not exceed 30% w/w.
