TP450 NG is a soft, flexible open-cell polyurethane foam impregnated with an acrylic-based, UV-stabilised resin, designed for sealing large joints with high movement capability. The resin is water-repellent and contains a fire retardant, providing durable weather protection while remaining breathable for vapour diffusion. TP450 NG is BBA accredited (Certificate No. 12/4891, Product Sheet 5) and features a self-adhesive side for easy positioning and installation in any weather. It also provides thermal and acoustic insulation and offers reliable sealing performance with a long service life.
Key points
– BBA accredited with minimum 450 Pa weather resistance to EN 1027
– Accommodates up to 37 mm joint movement within gaps up to 50 mm
– Breathable weather seal for wind-driven rain with thermal and acoustic insulation
– Expands and contracts with movement, reducing need for remedial work and ensuring long life
Shelf Life- 2 years when stored in its original unopened containers.

Suitable for:
– Provides a weather-tight seal against severe wind and rain
– Ideal for sealing window heads and sills in timber frame construction
– Accommodates up to 37 mm differential movement within joints up to 50 mm wide
– BBA accredited with a proven track record across the UK and Europe
Application
1. Measure the joint width before installation and ensure that the total movement, including any settlement, is within the capacity of the selected tape size (see Fig. 1 & 2).
2. Cut off the release liner and the opening wedge at the start of the roll. When installing into construction joints, the tape may be applied horizontally or vertically (from bottom to top). For door or window frames, apply the horizontal seals before the vertical seals (see Fig. 4).
3. When installing around fenestration, position the adhesive side of the tape against the frame. For construction joints, the tape can be applied in any order. Do not stretch the tape during installation. In damp or cold conditions, a wood wedge may be used to hold the tape in place until it expands. Ensure the tape is recessed at least 2 mm from the front of the joint.
4. When calculating tape length, add 20 mm per metre to the actual joint length. Measure the opening rather than the window size. At the end of a roll, cut off the wedge finish and start a new roll, ensuring a tight compressed butt joint.
5. For window heads and sills in timber frame construction where differential movement is expected, use single lengths of TP450 NG sizes 40/13–40 or 50/13–50 where possible.
6. If the seal is to be weather tested using the CWCT hose test (TN41), allow the tape to condition in the joint for 7–10 days before testing and use a minimum tape width of 25 mm. Contact the technical department for further advice.
7. When using TP601 Compriband e on window jambs together with TP450 NG Compriband Timber Max on the head and sill, apply TP601 Compriband e to the full frame height. Apply TP450 NG Timber Max across the full opening width so it covers the cut ends of the TP601 tape. Ensure the external faces of both products align to create a continuous seal (see Fig. 4).
8. Where the installed TP450 NG thickness exceeds 30 mm, cover the exposed face with a suitable trim to improve appearance and provide UV protection.
9. To prevent expansion of a part-used roll, secure it using the illbruck AB006 Velcro belt.
