Kerapoxy Adhesive is a high-strength, two-component epoxy resin-based mortar formulated by MAPEI, featuring silica sand and special admixtures for superior performance. When mixed, it creates a thixotropic blend that is easy to apply, even on vertical surfaces, with a single-coat thickness of up to 1 cm. This adhesive is durable, resistant to aging, and forms a strong bond with a variety of building substrates, hardening through a chemical reaction without shrinkage. Suitable for both interior and exterior applications, including underwater use, Kerapoxy Adhesive is ideal for bonding ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone, as well as fiberglass surfaces like swimming pools.

Key Points:

  1. High-strength, two-component epoxy adhesive with silica sand and admixtures for durability and strength.
  2. Thixotropic mix allows easy application on vertical surfaces up to 1 cm thick in one coat.
  3. Offers long-lasting performance with excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates, hardening without shrinkage.
  4. Ideal for indoor, outdoor, and underwater applications, including bonding in fiberglass pools and to ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone.

Kerapoxy Adhesive is for internal and external bonding of ceramic, porcelain, and stone to floors and walls on standard construction substrates.

Application Examples:

  • Bonding various types and formats of ceramic tiles.
  • Securely attaching bullnose and specialty ceramic tile shapes.
  • Adhering tiles in fiberglass swimming pools.
  • Installing marble doorsteps and windowsills.

Preparation of the Substrate
The substrate must be properly cured, mechanically strong, dry, and free of any loose particles, grease, oil, paint, wax, or similar substances. Cementitious substrates should be fully cured to avoid shrinkage after tile installation. In favorable weather, this requires at least one week of curing per centimeter of thickness unless special MAPEI binders are used, such as Mapecem, Topcem, or their pre-mixed versions, Mapecem Pronto or Topcem Pronto. Neglecting this curing time could weaken the bond with Kerapoxy Adhesive. For ferrous surfaces, rust removal via sand-blasting is recommended. On gypsum, plasterboard, and anhydrite surfaces, consolidate by applying a coat of Primer EP or Eco Prim T.

Preparation of the Mix
Kerapoxy Adhesive is provided in pre-measured containers: Part A (grey and white, 80 parts by weight) and Part B (beige, 20 parts by weight). This exact ratio is essential for proper hardening. Pour Part B into Part A and mix thoroughly until a smooth paste forms, ideally with a low-speed electric mixer to ensure a consistent blend and prevent overheating, which shortens working time. The prepared mix must be used within 45 minutes.

Application
Apply the adhesive to the substrate with an appropriate notched trowel. For special tile shapes, such as bullnose pieces, also fill the gaps on the tile’s back with Kerapoxy Adhesive before installation. Press tiles firmly to ensure a strong bond. The product’s setting time depends on ambient temperature: at 23°C, the adhesive remains workable for around 45 minutes, with the working time decreasing at higher temperatures.
