Mapeguard WP Adhesive is designed for various bonding and sealing applications, including overlaps of Mapeguard WP 200 and securing Mapeguard ST onto the same membrane. It is effective for bonding and sealing Mapeguard IC, Mapeguard EC, and Mapeguard PC, as well as for bonding Mapeband Easy to seal joints between adjacent sheets of Mapeguard UM 35. Additionally, it can be used to bond Mapeband Easy with Mapeguard UM 35 for waterproofing edges and corners and is suitable for bonding Drain Vertical and Drain Lateral to Mapeguard UM 35. This adhesive is appropriate for application on both wall and floor surfaces.
Preparation of the Substrate
Mapeguard WP can be applied directly onto the clean surfaces of Mapeguard WP 200, Mapeguard ST, Mapeguard IC, Mapeguard EC, Mapeguard PC, or Mapeguard UM 35.
Preparation of the Mix
To prepare the mix, pour component B (liquid) into a clean container. Gradually add component A (powder) while stirring with a mechanical mixer. The recommended mixing ratio is component A to component B at 1:0.9. Mix thoroughly for a few minutes, scraping down the sides and bottom of the container to incorporate all the powder. It’s advisable to use a mechanical mixer at low speed to avoid incorporating excess air. Manual mixing is not recommended. For increased workability, especially when applying to Mapeguard WP 200 and its special components, you can add water up to 5% of the weight of the latex used.
Application of the Mortar
Mapeguard WP Adhesive can be applied using a brush, roller, or a trowel (size no. 3). After applying the adhesive, quickly assemble the overlaps of the Mapeguard WP 200 layers and the joints between adjacent sheets of Mapeguard UM 35 sealed with Mapeband Easy. Ensure that the overlaps of the related special pieces (Mapeguard ST, Mapeguard IC, Mapeguard EC, Mapeguard PC, Drain Vertical, and Drain Lateral) are fully embedded in the adhesive to prevent air pockets. It is recommended to press the sealing band in place using the smooth side of the notched trowel without damaging the waterproofing products. Alternatively, a suitable pressure roller can be employed. Note that drying and installation times will be shorter at higher temperatures and longer at lower temperatures. The ambient temperature during installation should not drop below +5°C until final curing is achieved.
