APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
– Ensure the paving surface is dry, clean, and free from loose dirt, oil, grease, debris, or other contaminants. Joint widths must be between 2 mm and 5 mm, with a minimum joint depth of 25 mm.
– Do not pre-fill joints with sand. Sika® Setting Sand should be applied to the full depth of the joint to ensure optimal performance.
APPLICATION
– It is recommended to carry out a small trial application in an inconspicuous area or on spare paving units before full installation.
– As some settlement of the material may occur during storage and transport, thoroughly remix the dry product before use to ensure consistent curing. – Remove and discard any small lumps and do not add extra sand to the material.
– Apply the product in small, manageable sections rather than over large areas. Sweep the material into the joints, ensuring each joint is completely filled. If rain is expected before the material has hardened, protect the surface to maintain a smooth finish.
Important: Immediately remove any excess material from the paving surface using a brush. Once hardened, any residue left on the surface will be difficult to remove.
– After filling the joints, thoroughly soak the area using a hose fitted with a spray nozzle or a watering can with a rose attachment. Do not use a pressure washer. Ensure all joints are fully saturated, then rinse away any excess material remaining on the surface.
– The surface can be walked on immediately after activation; however, it is recommended to allow the area to dry before use. Drying typically takes 1–2 days, depending on temperature and weather conditions. Lower temperatures will extend the curing time. Full cure may take up to 28 days.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
– Clean all tools immediately after use with warm, soapy water.
