Sikafloor-440 Level Fibre Reinforced is ideal for embedding underfloor heating, providing a final wearing surface, and levelling or smoothing uneven floors. It is suitable for covering various substrates, including existing concrete, sand/cement screeds, brick, stone, unglazed ceramic tiles, plastic sheet DPC, epoxy membranes, and wooden floors. This product is suitable for both internal and external use.
APPLICATION
Ensure the floors to be treated are free from grease, dust, and loose particles, and that substrates are porous. Begin by dampening the floor with water, then prime with SikaBond® PVA+ or SikaBond® SBR+ diluted 1 part PVA/SBR to 3 parts water for a sound, slightly damp surface. Fill any deep depressions or holes with an appropriate repair mortar and allow it to dry. To mix, combine 20 kg of Sikafloor®-440 Level Fibre Reinforced with 4.2-4.4 L of water. Always add the powder to the water, stirring until a smooth, creamy compound forms. Pour the mixture onto the prepared floor and allow it to self-level. Lightly trowel down to achieve a maximum thickness of 30 mm, with a minimum of 10 mm on wooden substrates.
- Sand/Cement Render: Allow at least four weeks of drying before applying. Dampen the floor and prime with SikaBond® PVA+ diluted 1:3 with water. For areas with heavy foot traffic, mix with SikaBond® SBR+ diluted 1:1 with water.
- Timber Floors: Ensure the floor is securely fastened at 300 mm centers. Apply SikaBond® SBR+ at a 1:1 dilution and apply it to the subfloor while the bonding coat is still tacky.
- Existing Vinyl Tiles: Ensure the tiles are clean and sound. Prime with SikaBond® SBR+ diluted 1:1 with water and apply the floor leveling compound mixed with SikaBond® SBR+ over the tiles while the primer is still tacky. Allow 24 hours before applying the final covering.
Limitations:
- Always mix with clean, fresh water and follow priming instructions.
- Apply the product while the primer coat is still damp.
- Never exceed the recommended water quantity to avoid weakening the mixture and causing cracking.
- Do not mix more compound than can be applied within 20 minutes, and do not reconstitute once set.
- Switch off underfloor heating 24 hours before and after application.
- Do not use below 4°C.
- For areas with movement, use SikaBond® SBR+ diluted 1:1 with water instead of water alone.
- Ensure existing concrete screeds, asphalt, bitumen, and bituminous coatings are at least 4 weeks old before overlaying.
- It is the user’s responsibility to determine suitability for specific uses; for clarification, contact the Technical Services Department.
