SikaBond® Wood Flooring Adhesive is a standard-setting adhesive designed for direct bonding of all types of wooden flooring to common substrates. It can be applied using a trowel or gun and is available in various packaging options to suit both large flooring installations and smaller fixing or repair jobs.

Suitable for bonding all types of wooden floors directly onto most substrates including:

LIMITATIONS
- Always check the flooring manufacturer’s instructions before installation.
- Do not use on bitumen or substrates that may release oils or plasticisers.
- Do not use, store or allow the adhesive to cure below +5°C.
- Suitable for direct application to unprimed subfloors with moisture levels below 3% (CM).
- For moisture levels between 3.1–7% (CM), use SikaBond® Rapid DPM as directed.
- Do not install wooden flooring if moisture levels exceed 7% (CM).
- The user is responsible for confirming suitability. Contact Technical Services if unsure.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
- Compatibility tests are recommended for every surface.
- Check subfloor moisture using a carbide hygrometer and ensure it is below 3% (CM), unless using the specified DPM system.
- Read the limitations section before application.
- Acclimatise parquet flooring in the installation room for several days, keeping it in its original packaging.
- Turn off underfloor heating 48 hours before application and keep it off for 48 hours afterwards.
- Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease and contaminants.
- Remove all polish and wax from existing floors.
- Clean existing floor tiles with caustic soda, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Mechanically remove old adhesive residues, as these may affect adhesion.
- Allow new concrete to mature and dry for at least 4 weeks.
- Allow screeds to mature for 28 days and ensure moisture levels are no higher than 3% before application.
- Ensure chipboard is free from release agents and wax.
- Prime very porous or friable surfaces with SikaBond® Rapid DPM and allow to dry.
- Roughen smooth surfaces, such as anhydrite screeds, to provide a suitable key.
- Ensure basement and below-ground floors have adequate damp-proof course (DPC) protection and apply two coats of SikaBond® Rapid DPM as directed.
APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
Cartridge & Foil (Gun Applied)
- Cut the foil pack tip and place it into a suitable cartridge.
- Cut the cartridge nozzle flat to create an 8 mm opening, then cut a V-shaped profile approximately 10 mm deep.
- Fit the nozzle and load the cartridge into a sealant gun.
- Hold the gun at 90° to the floor and apply triangular beads approximately 8 mm wide and 10 mm high, spaced at 250 mm intervals perpendicular to the plank length.
- Position flooring while the adhesive remains tacky (within 30 minutes) and tap into place using a mallet and block.
- Remove uncured adhesive with Sika® Wonder Wipes®. Test compatibility first on lacquer-finished blocks.
- Flooring can generally be sanded or trafficked after 24 hours, depending on site conditions. Allow 3 days on non-absorbent or low-absorbency surfaces.
Pail (Trowel Applied)
- Select a suitable notched trowel to achieve at least 75% adhesive contact with the underside of the flooring.
- Do not spread more adhesive than can be covered within 30 minutes.
- Apply adhesive evenly at a minimum rate of 0.6 kg/m². Consumption may be higher depending on the trowel used.
- Position flooring while the adhesive remains tacky (within 30 minutes) and tap into place using a mallet and block.
- Remove uncured adhesive with Sika® Wonder Wipes®. Test compatibility first on lacquer-finished blocks.
- Flooring can generally be sanded or trafficked after 24 hours, depending on site conditions. Allow 3 days on non-absorbent or low-absorbency surfaces.
