Thompson’s Emergency Roof Repair Mastic is a high-performance roofing compound designed to provide immediate repairs to large holes and leaks, even when applied under water. It is a bituminous mastic-based compound with a high solids content and contains specially selected ingredients that help repel water, providing a durable and effective emergency roofing solution.

Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place away from heat and sources of ignition. Store upright and carefully reseal partly used containers.

Suitable for use on all types of roofing including felt, asphalt, slate & tiles.
PREPARATION
– Ensure the surface is clean and free from grease, rust, dirt, moss and algae. If it is raining, brush away any ponded water from the repair area. If the surface is dry, remove dust and dirt with a stiff-bristle brush, then dampen the area with white spirit.
APPLICATION
– Stir thoroughly before use. Apply the mastic with a trowel or palette knife, working it firmly into the repair.
– For small cracks and holes, apply a thick layer of mastic over the repair, extending approximately 10cm beyond the affected area.
– For larger cracks and voids, embed a scrim bandage into the mastic before covering the entire repair area and extending approximately 25cm beyond it. For best sealing results, apply to a thickness of approximately 6mm.
COVERAGE
– Thompson’s Emergency Roof Repair Mastic is designed for repairs rather than large-area coverage. A 750ml tin will cover approximately 0.13m² when applied at the recommended 6mm thickness.
DRYING TIME
– The mastic provides instant waterproof protection. Allow 3–4 days for the solvents to evaporate before carrying out permanent repairs. Ideally, permanent repairs should be completed within one month of application. Drying times will vary depending on weather conditions.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
– Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with white spirit.
