MIXING
Water Addition Rates:
Slurry (brush application): 4.5–4.7 L water per 25 kg bag
Mortar (trowel application): 4.0–4.25 L water per 25 kg bag
Spray application: 4.0–4.5 L water per 25 kg bag
Mixing Time: Approximately 3 minutes
Mixing Tools:
Mix mechanically using a forced action mixer or a clean bucket with a drill and plaster paddle (max. 500 rpm). Do not use a standard concrete mixer.
Add the powder slowly into the pre-measured water while mixing continuously until a smooth, lump-free consistency is achieved (around 3 minutes).
APPLICATION
– Ensure the substrate is thoroughly dampened before application, with no standing water present.
Slurry Application:
– Apply in even coats using a fibre brush (vertical surfaces) and a rubber squeegee or brush (horizontal surfaces).
– Allow to stiffen for 2–6 hours, then apply a second coat as soon as the first has hardened, within 24 hours, at the same coverage rate.
Mortar Application:
Apply the first coat using a notched trowel. Once hardened, apply the second coat using a smooth-edged trowel.
Spray Application:
– Apply using wet spray equipment. Ensure the first coat has hardened sufficiently before applying the second coat to avoid damage. Smooth the final coat with a brush or trowel.
– For all methods, apply the second coat at 90° to the first coat.
INTERNAL FINISHES
– Plasterboard may be fixed using plaster dabs, Sikaflex® 11FC or Sikaflex® EBT. Timber battens may also be bonded using these products. Finishing plasters can be applied directly; do not pre-wet the surface. Gypsum-based plasters should not be used. Always refer to the plaster manufacturer’s guidance for damp-proofing applications.
CURING TREATMENT
– In internal damp conditions, curing is not required. Keep windows closed to avoid drying winds. For external applications, protect from sun and wind exposure to prevent rapid drying using polythene sheeting or an approved curing method.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
– Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with clean water. Once hardened, material can only be removed by mechanical means.
