Ronseal Ultra Tough Mattcoat is a durable interior paint designed for high-traffic areas where walls need extra protection. It’s ideal for use in hallways, stairs, living rooms, kitchens, children’s bedrooms, and other busy spaces. The tough matt finish resists scuffs, knocks, and everyday wear, while remaining wipeable and easy to clean, helping walls look fresher for longer. Suitable for application on interior walls and ceilings, it can be applied directly over previously painted surfaces and is compatible with plaster, brick, and wallpaper.
Uses: This product is a tough, clear matt polyurethane varnish designed to protect interior woodwork. It’s ideal for use on bare or previously treated wooden surfaces such as doors, shelving, skirting boards, furniture and trim, where it provides long-lasting resistance to everyday knocks, water, heat and most household chemicals, helping extend the life of the wood while keeping a natural matt finish that subtly enhances the grain.
Limitations: As an interior varnish, it’s not suitable for exterior use or for surfaces exposed to persistent outdoor weather. The solvent-based formula means good ventilation is important during application, and it may not adhere well to non-wood materials like plastics. Application requires careful surface preparation (cleaning and sanding), multiple coats, and appropriate drying time between coats for best results. It can also contain solvent components that can be flammable and may cause allergic reactions if safety instructions aren’t followed.
