SikaBond PVA D4 waterproof wood adhesive is suitable for internal and external applications, including constant water immersion. Its advanced hybrid technology avoids the safety concerns associated with conventional isocyanate-containing polyurethane adhesives. It provides a high-strength, impact- and temperature-resistant bond that can be stronger than the wood itself. Ideal for general woodworking, joinery, furniture assembly and household DIY, it dries clear and offers easy clean-up thanks to its water-based formula.
Key Points:
-
D4 waterproof performance: Suitable for applications involving constant water immersion.
-
Fast, strong bonding: Develops bond strength quickly with excellent impact and temperature resistance.
-
Clean finish: Dries clear without staining timber.
-
Versatile and easy to use: Water-based formula for easy clean-up, suitable for internal and external use and radio frequency curing.
slight separation may occur (thin layer above thicker layer). This is an aesthetic rather than technical problem. In this case, mix well before applying. PROTECT FROM FROST.

Suitable for:
-
General woodworking and joinery.
-
Furniture assembly and assembly line applications.
-
Wood-to-wood laminating.
-
Household DIY projects.
-
Weatherproof and creep-resistant wood bonding.
-
Interior and exterior applications.
-

LIMITATIONS
-
Ensure the wood moisture content does not exceed 15%.
-
Not suitable for load-bearing applications.
-
Do not use below +10°C, as the adhesive may dry with a chalky white finish and poor bond strength.
-
Drying time increases at lower temperatures.
-
Remove excess adhesive from the glue line with a damp cloth before it dries.
-
Sand off excess adhesive before staining or varnishing.
-
Ensure sufficient clamping pressure, particularly when using radio frequency bonding.
-
For laminates, only suitable for bonding small, porous laminate strips. For non-porous or large laminate areas, use Stick2 Contact Adhesive.
-
Discolouration may occur on certain wood types, including cherry, beech and some oaks, due to natural variations and reactions with iron or tannins. Test compatibility before large-scale use.
-
Maximum water resistance is achieved no earlier than 7 days after bonding. Avoid water contact during this period.
-
The user is responsible for determining the product’s suitability. Contact Technical Services if in doubt.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
– Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease.
APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
-
Apply a thin, even layer of adhesive to both surfaces at approximately 150–180 g/m². Avoid excessive application, as this can slow curing.
-
Ensure the wood moisture content is between 8% and 15%.
-
Do not apply at room or wood temperatures below +10°C.
-
Remove excess adhesive immediately using a damp cloth.
-
Clamp the surfaces together until the adhesive dries. Initial set occurs in approximately 10 minutes.
-
Support the bonded surfaces until fully cured. Full strength is achieved within approximately 8 hours at +20°C.
-
When fitting dowels, apply adhesive to the holes.
-
Suitable for radio frequency curing systems.
