SikaBond® PVA+ is a medium-viscosity, polyvinyl alcohol stabilized, externally plasticised vinyl acetate homopolymer designed for use in the building industry. It serves as a quick-drying general-purpose bonding agent, primer, and sealer for concrete and plaster, while also acting as a mortar improver and admixture for screeds and renders. The product is suitable as an adhesive for porous substrates such as wood, cork, paper, textiles, and cardboard, as well as a bonding agent for plaster, cement screeds, and renders on sound surfaces like concrete, stone, and brick. Additionally, it can be used as an internal filler when mixed with wood shavings or plaster. SikaBond® PVA+ improves adhesion, reduces surface porosity and dusting, enhances flexibility and frost resistance, allows thinner applications, and is quick-drying, with total solids of 32–37% and a Minimum Film Forming Temperature of -2 °C to +5 °C. It meets the bond strength requirements of BS 5270: Part 1:1989 and is classified as a D2 wood adhesive under EN 204:2016.
Key Points:
– Acts as a primer, sealer, bonding agent, and admixture for mortars, screeds, and renders.
– Provides strong adhesion to a wide range of porous and dense substrates including concrete, glass, steel, and tiles.
– Improves flexibility, frost resistance, and reduces surface porosity and dusting.
– Quick-drying, economical to use, and compliant with BS 5270:1989 and EN 204:2016 standards.
Shelf Life – 12 months from date of manufacture when stored according to manufacturer’s instructions in original, tightly closed containers.
Storage Conditions – Store in cool, dry conditions. Between +5 and +25 °C. Protect from frost. Storage outside these parameters will dramatically reduce shelf life

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or loose material. Agitate SikaBond® PVA+ thoroughly before use.
APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
– Apply using a brush, roller, or spreader, using clean water.
– General Bonding: Use SikaBond® PVA+ neat to bond most building materials when at least one surface is porous. For woodworking, apply neat; conforms to D2 bond strength under EN 204:2016.
– Sealing and Priming: Dilute 1 part SikaBond® PVA+ with 3 parts water and apply to clean surfaces; allow to dry. Coverage: 5.7 m²/L.
– Dust Proofing: Dilute 1 part SikaBond® PVA+ with 5 parts water and apply.
– Bonding Coat: Prime surface as above, allow to dry, then apply bonding coat neat and immediately apply plaster or screed while tacky. Coverage: 5.7 m²/L for low suction, 8.56 m²/L for high suction surfaces.
– Sealing and Bonding Absorbent Surfaces (Concrete or Plaster): Step 1 – Prime with 1:3 dilution of SikaBond® PVA+; allow to dry. Step 2 – Apply neat bonding coat and plaster/screed while tacky.
– Sealing Non-Absorbent Surfaces (Paint or Tiles): Repeat priming step above.
– Internal Patching Mortars and Screeds: Apply cement renders, screeds, or plaster while bonding coat is still tacky; reapply if dry. For bonding new screeds to old, prime surface with 1:3 dilution, then follow steps for absorbent surfaces. Bond new material with neat SikaBond® PVA+ and allow to dry.
– Cement Admixture: Add 10–15 L of SikaBond® PVA+ per 50 kg of cement.
– Woodworking: Apply neat. Provides D2 bond strength under EN 204:2016. Not suitable for load-bearing applications.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
Clean all tools and remove excess SikaBond® PVA+ immediately with cold, clean water.
