APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
- Ensure all surfaces are clean and dust-free.
- Can be used underwater only for emergency repairs, as adhesion performance is reduced.
APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
As a Nail Replacement (Panel) Adhesive:
- Prime dusty surfaces with SikaBond® PVA+, diluted 1:4 with water, and allow to dry.
- Apply using a standard sealant gun with a suitable nozzle.
- For heavy items, apply adhesive around the edge and in beads at 30–40 mm intervals.
- Alternatively, apply adhesive directly to battens and press into place.
- Provide temporary support for heavy items until the adhesive dries.
- For lightweight items, apply 1–2 continuous beads and press immediately into position.
- Apply a thicker bead where gap filling is required.
- Remove excess adhesive immediately using a cloth and white spirit.
As a Sealant:
- Certified to EN 15651 Façade for interior, exterior, cold climate and sanitary applications.
- Follow the recommended joint ratios.
- Reduce excessive joint depth using Sika® Expanding Foam or Joint Backer Rod where required.
- Ensure the joint allows adhesion to two surfaces only to maintain flexibility.
- Use masking tape to protect adjacent surfaces and create a neat seal.
- Remove masking tape immediately after tooling.
- Tool the sealant within 5 minutes of application for good substrate contact.
- Tooling provides a smooth, professional finish.
Fixing Mirrors:
- Apply 6 mm diameter beads vertically to the back of the mirror at 30–40 mm centres.
- Position the mirror immediately and secure with even pressure and a slight twisting action.
- Provide temporary support, such as tape, for 24–48 hours while the adhesive cures.
- Seal around the mirror after 24 hours, if required.
- Allow the adhesive to fully cure before overpainting.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
- Uncured product: Clean with Sika® Wonder Wipes or white spirit.
- Cured product: Remove mechanically.
