EVERBUILD® 409 Block-Guard is a clear, solvent-based acrylic coating designed to bind jointing sand and create a durable protective seal over block paving and other mineral pavers and flags. The coating penetrates deeply into both the pavers and the jointing sand before drying through solvent evaporation, resulting in a long-lasting finish that also helps make cleaning easier.

Shelf Life – 24 months from date of manufacture in original unopened containers.
Storage Conditions – Store in cool, dry conditions between + 5 and + 25°C. PROTECT FROM FROST AND SOURCES OF IGNITION. Storage outside these parameters will dramatically reduce shelf life.

SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
– Ensure surfaces are clean and free from dirt, mould, fungal growth, oil, grease, and other contaminants.
– Remove oil stains using detergent and hot water.
– Treat mould and fungal growth with EVERBUILD Patio Wizard in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
– Thoroughly degrease cement-based pavers and artificial stone, ensuring all release agents are removed.
– Allow all block paving, flags, and artificial stone to weather for a minimum of 3 months before sealing.
– This waiting period allows salts to leach out naturally, helping to prevent white staining beneath the sealer.
– Do not apply to wet or water-saturated surfaces, as poor adhesion may result.
– In hot, dry conditions, lightly dampen the surface with water and allow it to dry before application.
APPLICATION NOTE
– Do not apply at temperatures below +5°C.
– Apply directly from the container using a watering can and long-pile roller.
– Work the product thoroughly into joints to maximise penetration.
– Do not leave surplus material on the surface.
– Ensure even coverage across the entire surface.
– Avoid ponding, particularly on textured pavers and flags.
– Excess product may dry to a blotchy or white appearance, especially when wet.
– Apply two coats for optimum performance.
– Allow 3–4 hours drying time between coats.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
– Clean cured product from tools and equipment using xylene.
LIMITATIONS
– Do not apply to wet or saturated surfaces.
– Do not apply in direct sunlight.
– Do not apply if rain is expected within 5 hours (at 20°C).
– Suitable only for porous surfaces where penetration can occur.
– Do not apply to non-porous surfaces or painted surfaces.
– Do not apply to surfaces previously treated with stearate- or silicone-based water repellents, such as EVERBUILD® 402 Waterseal.
– Some natural stone surfaces may darken slightly after treatment.
– Always test a small inconspicuous area before full application.
– Slip resistance is achieved when dry but may be reduced when wet.
– Treated surfaces can normally be trafficked after 12–24 hours, depending on temperature and drying conditions.
– All pavers, flags, blocks, and artificial stone must be installed for at least 3 months before treatment.
