Sika® Block Paving Seal is suitable for both vehicle and pedestrian areas. It can be applied to new or existing drives, forecourts, parking areas, walkways, and paths.
LIMITATIONS
In hot weather (above +25 °C), store Sika® Block Paving Seal in a cool place before use. In cold conditions (below +5 °C), the product may thicken, making spraying difficult. Do not use sprayers previously used for silicones or release agents, and avoid mixing different formulations of Sika® products or other curing membranes. Ensure all spraying equipment is thoroughly cleaned and free from residues before use. Sika® Block Paving Seal must be removed before applying a coating system and will gradually degrade over time due to environmental exposure and trafficking.
ECOLOGY, HEALTH AND SAFETY
Users must read the latest Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to use. The SDS provides guidance on safe handling, storage, and disposal, as well as physical, ecological, and toxicological information.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
For new block paving, remove all loose material using a brush or vacuum. For existing areas, physically remove weeds, algae, and lichens (algae and lichens can also be treated with Sika® Mouldbuster). Remove oil, grease, and diesel stains, and ensure the surface is completely dry before application. To verify dryness, scrape out jointing sand to a depth of up to 10 mm; if the sand is dry, the blocks may be treated. Fill joints with compacted Sika® Setting Sand or kiln-dried sand before applying the sealant.
APPLICATION
Stir the product thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes before use. Begin by treating the perimeter of the paving area. Apply the first coat with a roller, spreading liberally and evenly, avoiding puddles, and always maintaining a wet edge to prevent striping. Allow the first coat to become tack-free before applying the second coat at right angles to the first, ensuring no more than 24 hours elapses between coats. Do not over-apply. Allow at least 6 hours before pedestrian traffic and 16 hours for vehicles, protecting the area from moisture during curing. It is recommended to treat a trial area first to confirm coverage and finished appearance.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with white spirits. Hardened or cured material can only be removed mechanically.
