It’s performance can be enhanced by adding BAL ADMIX GT1, which increases flexibility, adhesion, bond strength, and reduces water permeability, with suggested dilutions of 1:1 with water for plywood walls and 1:2 with water for porcelain tiles.
Key Points:
– Water- and frost-resistant cementitious grout for walls.
– Suitable for ceramics and mosaics in dry or wet interior/exterior environments.
– Supports joint widths up to 3mm and recommended for swimming pools.

Suitable for grouting ceramics and mosaics in both dry and wet interior or exterior environments. Ideal for joint widths up to 3mm and recommended for swimming pools. Additional applications are possible by incorporating BAL ADMIX GT1, which enhances flexibility, adhesion, bond strength, and reduces water permeability. Suggested ratios:
Plywood walls: BAL ADMIX GT1 diluted 1:1 with water
Porcelain tiles: BAL ADMIX GT1 diluted 1:2 with water
Restrictions
Not suitable for food preparation or storage areas, spas, jacuzzis, chemical plants, power showers with body jets, or any application requiring fully waterproof grouting.
MIXING
Use a BAL MIXING BUCKET or another suitable container.
1. Gradually add approximately 3 parts powder to 1 part clean cold water by weight (refer to table in data sheet).
2. Mix thoroughly until a smooth, lump-free mortar is achieved.
3. Allow the mixture to stand for 2–3 minutes, then remix for 30 seconds. Avoid introducing air by mixing too vigorously or over-mixing.
APPLICATION
Grouting Procedure
1. Check for potential staining: apply grout to a small trial area on a few tiles. If discolouration occurs or grout is difficult to clean, treat the area with BAL PROTECTIVE SEALER and repeat the trial.
2. Work in small sections using a BAL GROUT FLOAT or squeegee. Completely fill the tile joints with grout, compacting thoroughly and removing excess grout as you go.
3. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the grout to dry at 20°C, or until the surface is dry to the touch (not fully cured).
4. Clean the tile surface diagonally to the grout lines using a damp sponge or sponge board, rinsing frequently with clean water. Avoid allowing water to enter ungrouted joints.
5. Once the grout has set in the joints, polish the tile surface with a clean, dry cloth. For faster results, use a BAL WASH BOY.
6. Remove any remaining haze the following day using water and a BAL EMULSIFYING PAD and gripper.
7. Allow a minimum of 24 hours before exposing the tiles to normal use.
NOTE:
– For swimming pools, do not fill for at least 3 weeks after grouting. Contact BAL TECHNICAL ADVISORY AND SPECIFICATION SERVICE for guidance.
– For showers, do not use for at least 2 weeks after grouting.
CLEANING
Always use cleaning products suitable for the specific tile type. For long-term antimicrobial protection, regularly clean with BAL MICROSHIELD TILE CLEANER, which contains Microban® antimicrobial protection.
