Ardex MG is ideal for wall and floor tiling in dry and occasionally wet internal areas.
PREPARATION
Ensure that tiles are securely fixed and that joints are clean, free of dust, excess adhesive, bedding mortar, and other debris.
MIX PROPORTIONS
The approximate mixing ratio by volume is 1 part water to 2½ parts ARDEX MG powder. For 11kg of ARDEX MG, use approximately 3.4 liters of clean water.
MIXING
Add the required amount of clean water into a clean container, then gradually add the powder while stirring thoroughly until a creamy, slump-free, easily workable mortar is formed. The mixed grout has a working time of 30 minutes at 20°C. Higher temperatures will reduce the working time.
NOTE:
Certain tiles, such as ceramic, vitrified, porcelain, or natural stone, or those with textured, matt glazed, or porous surfaces, may be prone to surface discoloration during grouting. A trial application should be performed to check for discoloration. If necessary, particularly with intense grout colors, apply a protective treatment to the tile face to prevent grout retention in the tile’s surface porosity or texture. For guidance on colored grouts, refer to clause 6.5 of BS 5385-1: 2018. If uncertain, consult the tile manufacturer or distributor for advice. When using acid-based cleaning products on hardened grout, test the product on the wetted grout before use to check the grout’s resistance to discoloration. Thoroughly rinse off any acidic cleaner residues to prevent damage to the grouted joint.
APPLICATION
Use a rubber squeegee or rubber-backed trowel to press the mixed grout into the joints, ensuring they are fully filled. Remove excess grout as you work, and wipe off any remaining grout on the tile face with a damp sponge between 15 and 30 minutes after application. A fine mist from a spray bottle can help emulsify grout residues on the tile surface. Apply the grout at temperatures above 5°C.’
