BAL Quickset Cement is a rapid-strength, low-shrinkage quickset cement designed for screeds and renders, capable of accepting foot traffic in just three hours. Ideal for installations such as swimming pools and underfloor heating, it offers a 60-minute pot life, 80% less shrinkage than standard OPC screeds, and excellent water and frost resistance once set. The product can be pumped for fast-track installation, delivering significant on-site time savings compared to traditional screeds. Its improved flexural and compressive strength, combined with adaptable mix ratios, ensures efficient application and reduced costs while providing a reliable, high-performance solution for both professional and large-scale projects.

Use for
– Screeding or rendering to prepare walls and floors before tiling.
– Suitable for dry and wet installations, including swimming pools.
– Can be pumped for quick, efficient application.
– Rapid strength gain and low shrinkage for fast-track projects.
Restrictions: NOT suitable for
– Wearing surfaces.
SURFACE PREPARATION
General
Provide construction joints following standard practice. Ensure all surfaces are dry, sound, clean, and free from grease, dust, or other contaminants.
Suitable Surfaces:
– Concrete, brickwork, and blockwork: Allow to dry for 6 weeks before application.
– Non-porous substrates: Apply a slurry bonding coat (mix 1 part BAL QUICKSET CEMENT with 1 part sand by weight, then add BAL BOND SBR diluted 1:1 with water to a creamy consistency). Apply the screed or render onto the wet slurry coat. For further guidance, contact BAL TECHNICAL ADVISORY AND SPECIFICATION SERVICE.
– Porous substrates: Always apply a slurry bonding coat prior to rendering.

MIXING
Mix mechanically using a pan, trough, or other forced paddle-type mixer. The required water quantity will vary depending on sand grading, moisture content, and mixing method.
Note: Do not use a free-fall drum mixer for this product.
