BAL Supercover Rapidset is a high-performance cementitious non-slip wall and floor adhesive that provides exceptional yield and sets in double-quick time, allowing grouting after just 2 hours. With an open time of 20 minutes and a pot life of 45 minutes, it is suitable for fixing ceramics, porcelain, vitrified tiles, mosaics, certain natural stones, terrazzo, rigid foam insulation, and brick slips in dry or wet interior and exterior environments, including large-format wall tiles and showers.
BAL Supercover Rapidset offers high coverage (approximately 0.96 m² per kg with a mosaic trowel) and fast-drying properties, it is ideal for commercial and domestic projects requiring rapid installation. It is not suitable for total immersion areas, heated screeds, or locations with significant movement or vibration unless modified with BAL ADMIX AD1 for added flexibility, and is supplied in 15 kg grey packs.

Use For:
– Fixing ceramics, porcelain, vitrified tiles, mosaics, certain natural stones, terrazzo, rigid foam insulation, and brick slips in dry or wet interior and exterior environments.
Note: Some natural stones (e.g., limestone, marble, travertine, certain granite) may be prone to water staining. For these, a rapid-setting white adhesive like BAL Rapid-Flex One is recommended. Do not use BAL Supercover Rapidset on translucent or water-sensitive stone*.
– Recommended for large-format wall tiles
– Recommended for showers
Not Suitable For
– Metal, painted surfaces, glass/metal tiles with water-sensitive backs, plywood walls, tiling over existing glazed tiles*, and areas of total water immersion (e.g., swimming pools*)
– Water-sensitive natural stone and very large-format panels (up to 3m × 1m)

*Certain applications may be possible by adding BAL ADMIX AD1 to improve flexibility, adhesion, and reduce water permeability, enabling use on glazed surfaces
Do NOT use in temperatures below 5°C or in damp conditions.
SURFACE PREPARATION
General
Ensure that all surfaces to be tiled are flat, clean, dry, sound, and free from contamination or any barriers to adhesion.
Surface Regularity
Surface regularity refers to the variation in height of a flooring layer over short distances—essentially, the “flatness” or degree of unevenness of the screeded surface.
Note: When installing large-format tiles, it is crucial that the substrate is as level as possible, ideally better than SR1, to prevent excessive adhesive bedding.
Wet Areas
For wet areas, ensure the background is fully waterproofed using BAL Tank-IT or BAL Waterproof 1C.
External Tiling
When tiling externally, protect the installation from adverse weather during fixing, grouting, and for as long as possible afterward. For direct-to-earth subfloors, a Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) is recommended, or a surface DPM can be applied prior to tiling if required.
MIXING
Use a BAL MIXING BUCKET or other suitable bucket.
1. Add approximately 3 parts powder to 1.3 parts clean cold water by weight. (see table) Never add more water than recommended as this may lead to excess shrinkage or debonding.
2. Mix until lump-free mortar achieved.
3. Allow mixed adhesive to stand for 2 minutes before remixing for 30 seconds.
NOTE: If using electric drill mixer, blend at slow speed (i.e. under 300rpm).
Ready for immediate use. Pot life at 20°C: approx. 45 minutes.
NOTE: Pot life/setting time will vary slightly with temperature: higher temperatures = shorter; lower temperatures = longer.
