Bond It Bitumen Primer is a high-quality, penetrative, bituminous solution designed to prime surfaces before applying bituminous materials and flashing tapes. It’s ideal for heavy-duty applications, including priming concrete roofs, floors, cementitious screeds, bitumen felt, weathered bitumen, mastic asphalt, and weathered corrugated iron and steel. This primer is easy to apply by brush or roller and provides a waterproof, weatherproof barrier that protects substrates from corrosion. It is resistant to low concentrations of alkalis and acids and can withstand prolonged oxidation, making it perfect for exterior use.

Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and ignition sources. Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use. Maintain storage temperature between +5°C and +25°C, and protect from frost.

Bond It BITUMEN PRIMER is designed for waterproofing and weatherproofing a variety of surfaces, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as steel, iron, lead, zinc, and aluminium, as well as concrete, roofing felt, fibre cement, corrugated iron, asphalt, brick, and wood. It helps reduce corrosion and decay, providing effective protection for exterior metalwork like fire escapes, ladders, gutters, and more.
Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and loose debris. Use Bond It MOULD STOP to remove any organic growth. Rust should be wire brushed to eliminate as much as possible, and any remaining residue must be primed with a rust inhibitor. Surfaces should be completely dry before applying BITUMEN PAINT. For porous surfaces, apply an initial coat of BITUMEN PRIMER.
Application: BITUMEN PAINT is ready for use and does not require thinning. Apply at least two coats using a brush, roller, or spray, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
Note: At low temperatures, the coating may become less flexible, while at high temperatures, it softens and becomes more vulnerable to environmental degradation. Ensure the first coat is fully dry before applying the second coat.
Drying Time: Approximately 24 hours, depending on conditions. Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
Cleaning Tools: Clean with paraffin (kerosene) or Bond It WHITE SPIRIT.
