SikaSeal® General Purpose Silicone is a multi-purpose acetoxy-cure silicone sealant that cures rapidly to form a durable, permanently flexible, and high-strength waterproof seal. Its anti-fungal formulation contains a fungicide that helps protect against the growth of bacteria, mildew, and black mould in high-humidity environments. The low-viscosity consistency enables fast and easy application, while its 12.5% movement capability allows it to accommodate joint movement without compromising performance.

LIMITATIONS
– Not overpaintable.
– Not suitable for aquarium manufacture; use EVERBUILD® Aquamate.
– Do not use with bitumen or asphalt; use Weathermate.
– Not suitable for highly porous surfaces such as new concrete or stonework without priming; alternatively use Construction Silicone.
– Do not use on substrates that may bleed oils, solvents, or plasticisers.
– Not suitable for use near the edge seals of double-glazed units; use Construction Silicone.
– Do not use for perimeter sealing of uPVC frames; use LMN Frame Silicone Ultra.
– Not suitable for soft metals such as lead and brass; use Roofline Repair & Protect.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
– Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and dust-free.
– Remove loose coatings, old sealants, and mastics.
– Clean glass, steel, and aluminium with a suitable solvent cleaner.
– Porous surfaces may require priming; test a small area first.
APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
– Follow recommended joint dimensions and ratios.
– Reduce joint depth if required using Sika Boom® Expanding Foam or a suitable backer rod.
– Ensure adhesion occurs on two sides only to maintain flexibility.
– Cut the cartridge nozzle at a 45° angle, slightly larger than the joint width.
– Apply using a standard sealant gun with steady pressure.
– For Easi-Squeeze tubes, cut the nozzle at 45° and apply with even pressure.
– Tool and smooth the sealant within 15 minutes of application.
– Smooth using a spatula or timber tool wetted with a soap-and-water solution.
– Use masking tape along joint edges for a cleaner finish.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
– Remove uncured sealant with white spirit or Sika® Wonder Wipes.
– Remove cured sealant with EVERFLEX® Silicone Eater.
