MT480 is a water-based, gap-filling grab adhesive that delivers strong bonding performance similar to solvent-based adhesives, but without the associated health or regulatory concerns. It is ideal for professional use in areas where solvent adhesives are prohibited or where ventilation is poor. MT480 is a safer choice for confined spaces. MT480 can be used for a wide range of applications, including fixing aluminium and PVCu nosings, carpet grippers, wall cladding, timber battens, architraves, skirting boards, and floorboards. It exhibits excellent adhesion to diverse substrates such as brick, concrete, blockwork, wood, plywood, chipboard, plasterboard. Also to polystyrene, laminated plastics, metals, and ceramics, and its gap-filling formulation ensures a strong bond even on uneven surfaces.
Key Points:
– Water-based construction adhesive with high initial grab and ultimate bond strength
– Solvent-free, making it safe for use in confined or regulated environments
– Gap-filling formulation ensures strong adhesion to uneven or irregular substrates
– Bonds a wide range of materials, including wood, concrete, metals, plastics, ceramics, and polystyrene
Storage – Store in dry shaded conditions between +12°C and +25°C. Do not allow to freeze.
Shelf Life – 12 months when stored as recommended in original, unopened containers

Uses:
– Provides a water-based alternative to conventional grab adhesives
– Suitable for a wide range of construction applications
– Bonds effectively to most common construction materials
– Ideal for use in areas where solvent-based adhesives are restricted or ventilation is limited
Preparation
– Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry (or slightly damp), and free from grease, dust, contamination, and loose material.
– Prime dusty or porous substrates with WD110 diluted 5:1 with water and allow to dry completely before applying adhesive.
– Abrading bond surfaces can help improve final bond strength.
Application
1. Cut the cartridge tip, attach the nozzle, and trim to the required size. Apply the adhesive using a sealant applicator gun.
2. For panels and large surfaces, apply adhesive in stripes at regular intervals on one surface, then bring surfaces together with slight movement and even pressure to bed the adhesive.
3. Increase pressure over the joint to maximise contact area; temporary supports may be needed until sufficient bond strength develops.
4. For battens, skirting, flooring, and irregular surfaces, apply beads or spots, position the component, lightly press to transfer adhesive, then reapply if needed. Allow 5 minutes before final assembly, pressing components firmly together.
Cleaning
– Remove uncured adhesive with a damp cloth.
– Cured adhesive can be softened and cleaned using AT200 High Strength Cleaner.
