PU038 is a solvent-free, two-component polyurethane adhesive designed primarily for the structural bonding of corner angles in aluminium windows and doors. Its thixotropic formulation prevents dripping, allowing for clean and controlled application. PU038 provides good resistance to weathering and delivers strong, durable bonds suitable for demanding construction applications. Bonded components can also be powder coated after curing, making it ideal for manufacturing and fabrication processes.

Surface Preparation
– Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or contaminants that may affect adhesion.
– For previously painted aluminium, clean with AA290 PU Cleaner or acetone to improve adhesion.
– Bare aluminium surfaces should be pre-treated (e.g., chromate, phosphate, or anodizing) for best results.
Application
– Remove the static mixing nozzle and ensure the two plastic discs at the end of the cartridge are in place before inserting into the gun.
– Discard the first 20 g of mixed adhesive to ensure a consistent mixture.
– Apply adhesive by pressing the gun directly to the surface. If there is a long break, remove the mixing nozzle and use a new one when restarting, again discarding the first 20 g.
– Carry out compatibility tests on new substrates before use.
– Allow full cure before overpainting. PU038 can withstand temperatures up to 230°C for a maximum of 30 minutes; during this time the adhesive softens and bonded parts should not be loaded. Properties return once cooled.
– Overpainting can be done with liquid or powder coatings. Note: PU038 is not conductive, so adhesion of powder coating during electrostatic spraying cannot be guaranteed.
– Subsequent anodizing may negatively affect the bond.
– When bonding materials with different expansion rates, assess long-term performance under varying temperatures.

Cleaning
– Remove uncured adhesive immediately with AA290 PU Cleaner or acetone.
– Once cured, adhesive can only be removed mechanically (e.g., razor blade, cutter, or grinding).
Notes
Staining may occur when used on natural stone. The product is not recommended for use on the back of mirrors, on plastics that are prone to stress cracking, or in applications with prolonged water exposure. Contact with bituminous or tar-containing surfaces may result in discolouration.
