Ronseal Decking Stripper 2.5L is designed for preparing wooden decking by removing old finishes such as oils, stains, greying, dirt, and weathered coatings prior to re-treatment. It is typically applied generously with a brush or roller onto dampened wood, left to work for around 30 minutes, and then scrubbed before rinsing thoroughly with clean water, revealing a clean surface ready for staining or oiling. The product is suitable for most types of softwood and hardwood decking and helps restore the natural appearance of timber while improving adhesion for new finishes. However, its use is limited in that it may require multiple applications on heavily coated or deeply stained surfaces, should not be used on painted or varnished decking that is not compatible with stripping agents, and can raise the wood grain slightly, necessitating light sanding after drying. It is also important to avoid use in very hot or dry conditions where it may dry too quickly, and surrounding plants or surfaces should be protected as the solution can cause damage if left in contact.
