Suitable for wood, brick, terracotta, metal, stone (unsuitable for plastic, iron, decking or areas you walk on)
Before You Start
– Apply only in dry conditions with temperatures above 10 °C and no rain forecast.
– Not suitable for use on decking.
How to Prepare New Wood
– Allow new wood to weather for at least 6 weeks to remove any surface coatings.
– Lightly sand to remove fibres and splinters.
– Wipe with a lint-free cloth dampened with methylated spirit.
How to Prepare Old Garden Wood
– Lightly sand to remove loose paint and create a smooth surface.
– Clean with white spirit to remove dirt and grease.
– Remove mould and algae, and repair or cut away any rotten wood.
– Use a stiff wire brush for sheds and fences if needed.
Preparing Brick or Stone
– Brush away dust and debris, then wipe clean before painting.
Preparing Terracotta
– Sand to remove any glaze.
– Test with water; if it beads, continue sanding until it no longer does.
Preparing Metal
– Prime metal surfaces before painting.
– Use grey primer for dark colours and white primer for lighter shades.
Application
1. Stir thoroughly to mix pigments.
2. Test the colour on a small hidden area before full application.
3. Apply the first coat, brushing along the grain when working on wood.
4. Allow 4 hours drying time between coats and apply 3 coats for best results.
5. Lightly sand smooth surfaces between the second and third coats if required.
6. Paint becomes rainproof in 1 hour.
Aftercare
Regular Cleaning
– Wipe surfaces regularly to maintain appearance.
– Clean brushes with warm soapy water.
Maintenance
– Reapply a fresh coat when the finish begins to show signs of wear to maintain protection and colour.
