Ronseal’s water-based Ultimate Protection Hardwood Garden Furniture Oil is specially formulated to nourish and protect all types of hardwood garden furniture, helping it withstand exposure to rain and sunlight. Designed to enhance the natural colour of the wood, it replaces oils lost through weathering using a blend of oils and resins, ensuring long-lasting performance. The oil is water repellent, weather resistant, and dries in approximately six hours, becoming rainproof in just two hours. Available in a range of natural colours, it helps maintain the appearance and durability of outdoor furniture over time.

Suitable for exterior garden furniture
Before You Start
– Ensure the temperature is above 10 °C and no rain is forecast.
– Wood must be clean and bare to allow proper oil absorption; remove any existing coatings beforehand.
How to Prepare Old Garden Furniture
– Use a suitable stripper to remove old paint or varnish.
– Lightly sand the surface to remove splinters and smooth the wood.
– Wipe down with white spirit to remove grease and residue.
How to Prepare New Garden Furniture
– Ensure the surface is clean and free from dust and dirt.
– Use a stiff wire brush to remove surface fibres or splinters.
Application
– Shake the tin thoroughly to mix pigments.
– Apply the oil generously using a lint-free cloth.
– Test on a small hidden area to check the colour before full application.
– Work the oil into the wood, ensuring good absorption, then wipe away excess with a clean cloth.
– Allow 4 hours drying time between coats and apply up to three coats for best results.
Aftercare – Cleaning
– Clean cloths with warm soapy water after use.
– Regularly wipe furniture with a cloth to remove dirt and stains.
Maintenance
– Reapply a fresh coat every 12 months to maintain colour and protection.
