Bond SBR is a multi-purpose synthetic polymer primer and admixture for walls and floors that enhances mortar performance by improving toughness, flexibility and tensile strength, allowing thinner applications that reduce overall construction weight. It significantly improves adhesion to backgrounds, increases resistance to water, water vapour, impact and salts, and reduces surface dusting. Bond SBR also improves workability, particularly in hot and humid conditions, with a fast drying time of approximately 15–30 minutes at 20°C.

BAL Bond SBR is a water-based styrene–butadiene copolymer dispersion designed for a wide range of construction applications, particularly as a bonding agent and admixture for cementitious systems. Once cured, the polymer is water and frost resistant. It can be used as a primer prior to tile fixing on timber, plaster, screeds, renders and vinyl tiles, or as a slurry coat mixed with cement or plaster for wall and floor backgrounds in both dry and wet interior and exterior environments. It is also suitable for use in swimming pool applications.
Restrictions: NOT suitable for
• Painted surfaces
• Existing non-porous surfaces such as tiles
• Epoxy coatings
• Some manufactured board systems (check with the manufacturer before use)
• Use over BAL RAPID-MA
MIXING
1. Shake container well before use.
2. Can be used undiluted/dilute 1:2 or 1:4 by volume of BAL BOND SBR and clean water and thoroughly mix.
APPLICATION/USAGE
Important Note: Do not use at temperatures below 5°C.
1. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, or loose materials. For highly polished surfaces, brush thoroughly with a stiff-bristle brush before priming.
2. Apply 2 coats of BAL BOND SBR using a clean brush, either diluted or undiluted according to the instructions (see USAGE above). Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
Note: On floors, avoid forming puddles of the product.
3. Make sure the coverage is even across the entire surface.
4. Allow the primer to dry completely for 15–30 minutes before applying adhesive.
5. Clean all tools and equipment with clean water immediately after use
