BAL Single Part Fastflex is a rapid-setting, highly polymer-modified, water- and frost-resistant elastomeric tile adhesive with acoustic properties. Part of the BAL ‘Go Greener’ range of environmentally responsible adhesives, it enhances the sound-reduction performance of floors when used with ceramics, porcelain, vitrified tiles, mosaics, slate, certain natural stones, and terrazzo in both dry and wet interior or exterior environments. It is suitable for areas subject to limited movement and vibration and can be used as an isolating, anti-fracture underlay for ceramic tiles. For natural stones such as limestone, marble, travertine, and some granite that may be prone to water staining, a suitable BAL rapid-setting white adhesive is recommended. BAL TECHNICAL ADVISORY SERVICE can provide guidance on approved sound-reduction mat systems, helping to meet Building Regulations Part E for sound resistance.

BAL Fastflex enhances sound-reduction performance for floor tiles including ceramics, porcelain, vitrified tiles, mosaics, slate, certain natural stones, and terrazzo in both dry and wet interior and exterior environments. NOTE: Some natural stones (e.g., limestone, marble, travertine, and certain granites) may be prone to water staining. In such cases, use a suitable BAL rapid-setting white adhesive instead.
Applications
– Suitable for areas with limited movement and vibration.

Restrictions: NOT suitable for
– Do NOT use with uncoupling mats.
– When applying on walls, battens will be required.
– Always confirm suitability with BAL Technical Advisory Service.
MIXING
Use a BAL MIXING BUCKET or other suitable bucket.
1. Add approximately 3.6 parts powder to 1 part clean cold
water by weight. (see table below)
2. Mix until lump-free mortar achieved.
3. Allow mixed adhesive to stand for 2 minutes before remixing for 30 seconds.
FIXING PROCEDURE
1. Apply the adhesive to the wall or floor surface and comb to the required bed thickness, ensuring the ribs of adhesive all run in one direction. Adhesive may be applied in thicknesses from 2–10mm. Note: When bonding sound-reduction matting with BAL SINGLE PART FASTFLEX, use a BAL MOSAIC TROWEL. For large or heavily patterned tiles, apply additional adhesive to the tile reverse.
2. For mosaics: Use a rubber tile float to press mosaics into the adhesive and beat them into position. Note: Mosaic tiles are not recommended on sound-reduction matting (minimum 100x100mm tiles, 11mm thick, although 8mm tiles may be used). For tiles: Press firmly into the ribs of adhesive with a slight twisting or sliding motion to ensure full contact.
3. Fix mosaics or tiles before the adhesive skins over (typically ~20 minutes at 20°C, depending on surface porosity and conditions). If the adhesive has started to set, remove it and apply a fresh layer. Discard any adhesive that has begun to cure and do not add more water.
4. Occasionally lift a tile or mosaic to check adhesive coverage. When performing solid-bed fixing, ensure no voids remain under tiles.
5. Leave adequate joints between individual tiles and install movement joints according to BS 5385, Parts 1–5.
6. Clean off any surplus adhesive from tile faces and joints before the adhesive dries.
