This rapid-setting, rapid-drying, two-part, highly polymer-modified cementitious system provides total waterproof protection for walls and floors. Easy to mix and apply, it is ideal for power showers, wet rooms, areas of total immersion, and external applications. Tiles can be installed just 90 minutes after application (at 20°C), and the system supports tiling based on the weight tolerance of the substrate. Its fast-setting, durable, and waterproof nature ensures reliable performance in both domestic and commercial environments.

Use for
– Providing a complete, easy-to-use waterproofing system for protecting substrates (when powder is mixed with liquid) before fixing wall and floor tiles in dry or wet interior and exterior areas. Note: Corners and edges must be reinforced with BAL TANK-IT TAPE.
– Suitable for areas of total immersion, including swimming pools.
– Ideal for locations subject to limited movement, such as around drainage channels or wall/floor junctions, and for preventing water penetration through suspended floors.
– Fully seals walls and floors and is recommended for:
– Heavy-duty showers and power showers
– Wet rooms
– Swimming and hydrotherapy pools
– Spa pools, fountains, and water features
– Terraces and balconies
NOT suitable for
– Do NOT uses as a DPM (Damp Proof Membrane), Do NOT use as a wearing surface.
– BAL TANK-IT should not be exposed / submerged to water without a suitable covering such as tiles
MIXING
1. Use a BAL MIXING BUCKET or other suitable container. The system requires two separate mixes as follows:
2. Pour 1.25L (¼ bottle) of BAL TANK-IT LIQUID 5L into an empty bucket, using the bottle’s measuring indicators.
3. Add 2.5kg (½ bag) of BAL TANK-IT POWDER 5KG to the liquid.
4. Mix until a lump-free consistency is achieved.
5. Add a further 1.25L (¼ bottle) of liquid to the mixture and mix for 1 minute.
6. Leave to stand for 2 minutes, then remix for 30 seconds.
7. Repeat the above steps with the remaining 2.5kg powder and 2.5L liquid for the second coat.
Notes:
– Clean the bucket thoroughly before reuse, before the product sets.
– If using an electric drill mixer, mix at slow speed (<300rpm).
- Pot life at 20°C is approximately 45 minutes. Higher temperatures shorten pot life; lower temperatures extend it.
- The product is ready for immediate use.
APPLICATION/USAGE
Do not use in temperatures below 5°C or in damp conditions.
Tool Recommendations (for 0.5mm thickness per coat):

Notes:
– Ensure full contact with the substrate; no voids.
– Apply in two coats of 0.5mm wet thickness, achieving a total dry thickness of 1mm in accordance with BS EN 14891:2012.
Application Procedure
1. Prepare corners and joints: Before mixing, apply BAL TANK-IT TAPE at internal and external corners, wall junctions with bases/upstands/columns, pipe penetrations, drainage points, junctions of different substrates, and cracks/joints.
2. Apply first coat: Spread the first mixed product onto walls and floors using a 4mm x 4mm notched trowel (or recommended tool). Consider pot life during application.
3. Flatten ribs: Before the surface dries, flatten the ribs using a floating trowel to 0.5mm thickness. Apply over the full height of wet areas and floor sections exposed to water. Allow to become touch-dry (~30 minutes) before applying the second coat.
4. Apply second coat: Mix and apply the second batch in the same manner to achieve an additional 0.5mm thickness (total thickness 1mm).
5. Drying time: Allow the second coat to become touch-dry (~60 minutes).
6. Ready for tiling: Once touch-dry, the surface is ready for tiling using the appropriate BAL adhesive. Refer to the BAL Technical Data Sheet or contact BAL Technical Advisory & Specification Service for guidance.
After Tiling:
Showers: Do not use for at least 2 weeks post-grouting (BS 5385: Part 4).
Swimming pools: Do not fill for at least 3 weeks post-grouting (BS 5385: Part 4).
