Key Points:
– Low modulus with up to 25% movement capability
– Excellent UV and weather resistance, suitable for interior and exterior use
– Strong adhesion to plastics and various substrates, durable and elastic
– Very low emission product, certified to GEV-EMICODE EC1+

PREPARATION
– Work in warm (+5°C to +40°C), well-ventilated conditions.
– Ensure all necessary materials and tools are available before starting.
– Joint surfaces must be clean, dry, sound, and free from dust, loose material, or contaminants that could impair adhesion.
– Very porous substrates such as gypsum, aerated concrete, or limestone should be primed prior to application. Always test adhesion before use.
– Masking tape can be applied along joint edges to achieve a neat finish and prevent contamination of surrounding surfaces. Tool the sealant using a round-ended spatula to ensure excess material is captured.
– Perform a test run without applying sealant to familiarize yourself with difficult areas such as corners, behind taps, or raised joints.

APPLICATION
1. Unscrew the nozzle and carefully cut off the dome of the cartridge using a sharp knife, avoiding damage to the thread. Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge.
2. Cut the tapered end of the nozzle at a 45° angle to match the gap width.
3. Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun, press the release plate, and pull out the plunger. Squeeze the trigger repeatedly until the sealant appears.
4. Position the nozzle at the start of the joint and gently squeeze the trigger, moving forward slowly to ensure contact with both sides of the gap. Release the trigger and press the plunger release plate to stop the flow at the end of the run.
5. Ensure joints have the correct dimensions to accommodate movement between materials.
6. For joint widths up to 10 mm, the depth-to-width ratio should be 1:1, with a minimum of 5 mm for both width and depth.
7. For joints wider than 10 mm, depth = (width ÷ 3) + 6 mm.
8. Smooth the sealant within the working time using a wet, round-ended tool (do not use a finger). Remove excess sealant with a cloth moistened with white spirit and peel off masking tape.
9. In damp or wet conditions, tool the sealant to allow water to run off.
10. Wipe away excess sealant from the nozzle after use and replace the cap.
1.. The sealant skins over in approximately 8 minutes and cures at roughly 2–3 mm per 24 hours, depending on bead width, temperature, and humidity.

CLEANING
Uncured Sealant: Remove excess mechanically with a soft scraper. Wipe remaining sealant with a cloth dampened with white spirit or soapy water. Repeat with a fresh cloth if necessary.
Cured Sealant: Remove excess carefully with a sharp knife. Do not use solvents on skin; clean tools and hands with soap and water.
Regular Cleaning: To maintain appearance, clean sealant regularly. Avoid bleach-based products as they can damage the fungicidal additive.

PAINTABILITY
BOSTIK S41 SILICONE is not paintable. Mask edges of joints to protect surrounding surfaces intended for painting.

PRECAUTIONS IN USE
Do not apply to wet, frosted, or icy surfaces. Not suitable for floor joints subject to abrasion, swimming pools, aquariums, or pedestrian walkways. Prevent uncured sealant from entering drains or watercourses. Avoid contact with bitumen. Not suitable for bedding double-glazed/insulating glass units without compatibility assessment. Compatibility with insulation glass edge seals cannot be guaranteed, as manufacturers may change compositions without notice. Not suitable for PE, PP, PC, PMMA, PTFE, soft plastics, neoprene, or bituminous substrates.
