BOSTIK S80 SILICONE is a professional-grade, neutral alkoxy cure silicone designed for glazing joints. It is low modulus, UV and weather resistant, and suitable for both interior and exterior applications. Specially formulated for durable, elastic sealing, it provides strong adhesion to most plastics, including PVCu, PMMA, and polycarbonate profiles and panels. Ideal for perimeter sealing of PVCu, aluminium, and wood door and window frames, BOSTIK S80 SILICONE adheres well to both porous and non-porous substrates while resisting cracking, shrinkage, discolouration, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures. It meets the requirements of BS EN 15651:2017 – Parts 1 and 2 for façade and glazing joint sealants and is 100% pure silicone, free from plasticisers.

Key Points:
– Neutral alkoxy cure silicone, low modulus and weather resistant
– Excellent adhesion to PVCu, PMMA, polycarbonate, aluminium, wood, and other substrates
– Resistant to cracking, shrinkage, discolouration, UV, and temperature extremes
– Suitable for interior and exterior glazing and façade joints, 100% plasticiser-free

PREPARATION
– Work in warm, well-ventilated conditions.
– Ensure all required materials are ready before starting.
– Joint surfaces must be clean, dry, sound, and free from dust, loose material, or other contaminants that may affect adhesion.
– If needed, apply masking tape along joint edges for a neat finish and to protect adjacent surfaces. Use a round-ended spatula to tool the sealant, ensuring excess is caught between the tape and joint.
– Perform a test run without applying sealant to familiarize yourself with challenging areas such as corners, behind taps, and raised joints.

APPLICATION
1. Unscrew the nozzle and carefully cut off the dome of the cartridge with a sharp knife without damaging the thread. Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge.
2. Cut the tapered end of the nozzle at a 45° angle to match the gap width.
3. Fit the cartridge into a sealant gun, pull out the plunger, and squeeze the trigger until the sealant appears.
4. Position the nozzle at the start of the gap, applying sealant evenly while maintaining contact with both sides of the joint. Release the trigger at the end of the run and press the plunger release to stop flow.
5. Ensure the joint depth is proportionate to the width to allow for movement between materials.
6. For joints up to 10 mm wide, use a 1:1 width-to-depth ratio, with a minimum of 5 mm. For joints wider than 10 mm, the depth should be the width divided by 3 plus 6 mm.
7. Smooth the sealant with a wet, round-ended tool within the working time. Remove excess with a cloth moistened with white spirit, then remove masking tape.
8. For damp or wet environments, tool the sealant to allow water runoff.
9. After use, clean the nozzle and replace the cap.
10. Sealant skins over in approximately 8–9 minutes and cures fully in ~24 hours, depending on bead width, temperature, and humidity.

CLEANING
Uncured Sealant: Remove excess carefully with a soft scraper, then wipe with a cloth moistened with white spirit or soapy water. Repeat with a clean cloth as needed.

Cured Sealant: No solvent can remove it. Cut away excess carefully with a very sharp knife. Do not use solvent on skin; use soap and water instead.

Regular Cleaning: To maintain appearance, clean regularly. Avoid bleach-based products, as these can damage the fungicidal additive.

PAINTABILITY
This silicone is not paintable. Use masking tape to protect adjacent surfaces from contamination during application.
