Cromar’s Cromasol is a high-performance, alcohol-based, solar reflective coating that provides long-lasting protection against UV degradation and solar heat gain when applied to various roofing substrates. Ready to use without dilution, it is specifically formulated for Mastic Asphalt but is also compatible with BS747 Roofing Felts, fully cured bituminous surfaces, and bituminous liquid roof coatings used in remedial repairs. Cromasol is designed not to attack bituminous materials, preventing asphalt softening and leaching, thanks to its carefully selected solvent-resin blend. Suitable for roofs prone to ponding, it remains fully water-resistant even before curing, and is available in both white and grey.
Key Points:
– Alcohol-based, solar reflective coating providing UV and heat protection
– Compatible with Mastic Asphalt, BS747 Roofing Felts, and bituminous coatings
– Prevents substrate softening and leaching due to solvent-resin formulation
– Water-resistant and suitable for roofs susceptible to ponding; available in white and grey
Storage Conditions- Cromasol should be kept in dry conditions, away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition, at temperatures between 8 °C and 25 °C. Part-used containers must be tightly resealed.
Shelf Life – 12 months

Coverage Rates
Coverage varies according to the type of surface. For smooth surfaces, a maximum coverage of 6m²/litre/coat is typical. For rough and uneven surfaces, coverage will reduce. Coverage rates may
vary as a result of extreme changes in external temperatures.
Application Instructions:
1. Apply Cromasol only to dry surfaces, ensuring both the surface and product are at ambient temperatures between 5 °C and 35 °C.
2. Use as a final coat once the roof has been made fit for purpose.
3. Thoroughly mix the container contents before application to avoid uneven appearance, and continue to mix regularly during use.
4. Apply two coats by roller or airless sprayer, allowing overnight drying between coats; where possible, apply the second coat at right angles to the first.
5. The coating can also be applied by brush, but extra care is needed to avoid heavy or uneven application.
6. For optimal performance, re-coat every 5–7 years depending on atmospheric conditions.
