Suitable for:
– Formulated for long-term elastic sealing of movement joints
– Suitable for natural stone: granite, slate, terrazzo, porphyry, limestone, travertine, sandstone, quartzite, marble, etc.
– Can be used with other construction materials: concrete, ceramics, metals, glass, PVC, and primed wood
– Ideal for joints where flexibility and durability are required
Preparation
– Always perform a compatibility test before use.
– Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, stable, and free from grease.
– For non-porous substrates, clean with AT200 and conduct a preliminary test.
– Remove loose particles from joints using a brush.
– For plastics and powder-coated surfaces, clean with AT115 and test for compatibility.
Priming
– FA870 adheres well to most surfaces; refer to the primer table for optimal results.
Joint Backing
– Use a backing rod beneath the joint to ensure the sealant bonds to only two surfaces.
Application
1. Apply sealant with a high-quality geared sealant gun for consistent extrusion. Cut the cartridge nozzle to the desired size.
2. Apply the sealant slightly proud of the final level, then spray with illbruck smoothing agent AA301.
3. Tool immediately using a jointing tool such as illbruck AA311.
Cleaning
– Clean tools and any sealant spillage immediately with AT200 Cleaner. Ensure surfaces are solvent-resistant before cleaning.
– Once cured, the sealant can only be removed mechanically.
Please Note
– Not suitable for substrates such as butyl rubber, neoprene, EPDM, or surfaces containing bitumen or tar.
– Contact with bituminous or tar-containing surfaces may cause discolouration and adhesion failure.
