ME003 is a high-performance 3-ply polyethylene membrane developed as a vapour barrier, designed to provide effective airtight and vapour-tight sealing in construction applications. Compatible with illbruck intelligent window membranes and adhesives, it protects both the structure and insulation from moisture ingress. Manufactured using high-grade granulates, the membrane maintains a strong sd-value (vapour diffusion resistance) comparable to traditional 160 μm PE vapour barriers, despite its reduced thickness, making it a reliable and efficient solution for professional use.

Install ME003 in accordance with BS5250:2002 ‘Code of Practice for Control of Condensation in Buildings’. The vapour barrier should have the appropriate resistance and be positioned on the warm side of the insulation.
1. Apply ME003 directly from the roll, fixing each sheet to the structure using staples or TF448 Endurance Adhesive. Minimise the number of joints where possible to enhance overall performance.
2. Ensure membrane overlaps are no less than 50 mm. Seal all staples and overlaps using illbruck ME315, ME316, or ME317 airtight sealing tapes.
3. For bonding to adjacent walls and floors, use illbruck TF448 adhesive and illbruck tape to achieve a durable airtight and vapour-tight seal.
Damage
Small areas of damage in the membrane can be sealed using illbruck tapes. Larger damaged sections can be repaired using a pre-cut piece of the original membrane, fixed with TF448 or illbruck tapes. Penetrations can also be effectively sealed using these tapes or SP925 Airseal.
