Suitable for interior wood
Before You Start
– Protect your wood while maintaining its natural appearance.
– Suitable for bare or previously varnished wood, but not for painted surfaces.
– Ensure the room is warm and well ventilated; although the varnish is low odour, ventilation is still recommended.
– Wear a mask when sanding to avoid inhaling dust.
How to Prepare Wood for Varnishing
– Wipe the surface with a cloth and white spirit to remove wax, grease, dirt, and oil.
– Lightly sand using 120 grit sandpaper to smooth rough areas and remove any loose or flaking coatings.
– Allow dust to settle, then wipe clean with a damp cloth and leave the wood to dry thoroughly before varnishing.
Application
1. Stir the varnish thoroughly to ensure a smooth consistency.
2. Test the colour on a hidden area to confirm you are satisfied with the finish.
3. Apply evenly using a brush in the direction of the wood grain; allow one hour drying time between coats.
4. Apply 2–3 coats for full coverage and protection. Before the final coat, lightly sand and clean the surface to ensure a smooth finish.
Aftercare – Cleaning
– Once fully dry, the varnished surface can be cleaned as normal.
– Keep the surface free from dirt and grit to prevent damage to the finish.
Repair
– If damage occurs, sand the affected area smooth and reapply a couple of coats to restore the finish.
