Arbosil 1096 S is highly recommended for a wide range of construction applications, including glass-to-glass joints, curtain wall assemblies, perimeter sealing on curtain walls, and sealing around polyester powder-coated and PVCu frames. It is also ideal for glazing windows in environments with high humidity, such as swimming pool buildings, and works effectively as a weatherproof seal for structural glazed assemblies.
NB: It is not recommended for overpainting, and use against natural stone.
Joint Preparation:
Ensure all joint surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Degrease the surfaces using the recommended ARBO® Cleaner, and for porous materials like brickwork and concrete, apply ARBO Primer 2650 for optimal adhesion. For specific or unique applications, it’s advisable to consult ARBO Technical Services for tailored guidance.
Joint Backing:
Where necessary, use a closed-cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam as joint backing material. All steps of joint preparation, priming, and sealant application should follow the guidelines outlined in BS8000-16: 1997 + A1: 2010, the British Standard for sealing joints in buildings with sealants.
Application:
Arbosil 1096 S is packaged in 380ml polyethylene cartridges and is easily applied into joints using an ARBO Caulking Gun.
