TP601 is a weather-retardant, impregnated open-cell polyurethane foam tape supplied compressed within a polypropylene film and fitted with a self-adhesive strip for easy fixing. It is designed for sealing joints around window and door frames, providing reliable weather resistance while allowing simple installation either in the factory or on site. The tape activates and expands after installation to create an effective seal, offering up to 600 Pa weather resistance without generating hazardous waste or requiring clean-up.

Preparation
No special surface preparation or primers are required. However, all contact surfaces must be clean and free from dust, dirt, loose material, grease, or oils.
Application
1. Prior to installation, fix TP601 to the frame using the self-adhesive strip.
2. Measure the aperture (not the frame) and cut the tape to length, allowing an additional 10 mm per metre to ensure a tight fit between the tape ends and the wall/reveal.
3. Install the horizontal sections first by fitting the tape to the top and bottom of the frame. Position the tape 2–3 mm back within the joint to protect it from UV exposure and improve stability.
4. Measure the vertical distance between the horizontal sections and cut the tape accordingly, again allowing 10 mm per metre extra to achieve tight butt joints at the corners.
5. Apply the vertical tape sections in line with the top and bottom seals.
6. Ensure the tape is applied with minimal but sufficient tension to remove any creases in the adhesive film, as creases may allow moisture ingress. This also ensures proper contact with the substrate.
7. During frame installation, make sure the tear-off strip remains accessible from the outside.
8. When ready to activate the tape, carefully tear and remove the encapsulating film at the perforation strip. Pull the film at approximately a 45° angle to the adhesive surface while supporting the tape near the tear point. This will activate the foam, allowing it to expand and seal the joint.
9. A small visible edge of film may remain after removal of the main encapsulation.
10. The tear-off activation film must be removed within 3 months of installation to avoid difficulty caused by UV degradation.
Please Note
To maintain driving rain resistance of at least 600 Pa, the maximum recommended joint width must not be exceeded. Aperture surfaces should not be excessively rough to ensure the tape can effectively seal irregularities.
