OB1 HeatProtect 1200°C Instant Fire Cement Specialist Sealant is a high-performance, cement-based formulation designed for use in environments exposed to intense heat. Capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1200°C, this ready-to-use fire cement is perfect for sealing and repairing joints, cracks, and gaps in fireplaces, stoves, flues, boilers, and other high-temperature installations. It cures to form a rigid, fireproof seal that resists cracking and crumbling under extreme heat, ensuring long-lasting protection and safety in domestic and industrial settings.
Withstands temperatures up to 1200°C, ideal for extreme heat applications
Ready-mixed and easy to apply, with fast-setting properties for efficient repairs
Suitable for sealing fire bricks, flue pipes, chimneys, and solid fuel appliances
Forms a durable, rigid, and fire-resistant bond, maintaining integrity even under thermal stress
Sealing joints in fireplaces and stoves – Ideal for use around solid fuel burners, wood-burning stoves, and fire surrounds.
Repairing cracked fire bricks and firebacks – Fills and seals damaged areas in high-temperature environments.
Flue pipes and chimney systems – Provides a fire-resistant barrier in joints and connections exposed to extreme heat.
Bonding metal to masonry in heat-exposed areas – Suitable for applications where metal components meet brick, stone, or concrete.
Furnace and boiler maintenance – Used in industrial settings to maintain the integrity of combustion chambers and heat-intensive installations.
Application Methods
Surface Preparation:
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, loose debris, and old sealant. Slightly dampen porous surfaces (e.g., brick or concrete) for better adhesion.
Application:
Apply directly from the tub using a trowel, spatula, or pointing tool. Press firmly into joints or cracks to ensure complete filling and good contact with both surfaces.
Shaping & Finishing:
Smooth the surface immediately with a damp tool for a neat finish. Remove any excess material before it begins to harden.
Drying & Curing:
Allow to air dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Once dry, gradually apply heat to fully cure the product. Avoid applying direct high heat before full drying, as this may cause cracking.
Limitations
Not Suitable for Flexible Joints: This is a rigid, cement-based sealant and will crack if used in areas requiring movement accommodation.
For Internal Use Only: Should not be used outdoors or where prolonged exposure to water or weather is expected.
Avoid Overheating on First Use: Do not expose the product to full heat immediately after application; heat should be applied gradually during the initial cure.
Not an Adhesive: While it bonds well in heat-resistant applications, it is not designed as a structural adhesive for heavy components.
