Ronseal Quick Drying Decking Oil Natural 2.5L is designed to nourish and protect exterior decking while enhancing the wood’s natural colour and grain. Its quick-drying formula penetrates deep into the timber to provide long-lasting protection against weathering, moisture, and UV damage, helping to prevent cracking and splitting. Easy to apply with a brush or roller, it leaves a natural, low-sheen finish and allows treated decking to be walked on in just a few hours, making it an ideal choice for fast, effective decking care.
Ronseal Quick Drying Decking Oil Natural 2.5L is a water-based decking oil formulated to protect and nourish outdoor wooden decking while enhancing its natural look with a matt finish. It penetrates the wood to help prevent greying and splitting caused by weather exposure, highlighting the grain and keeping the deck looking fresh throughout the season. Designed for ease of use, it dries fast — becoming rainproof in about 90 minutes and ready for a second coat in just around 20 minutes — making it ideal for quick outdoor projects. The oil is typically applied with a brush or decking pad on clean, dry wood, and two coats are recommended for the best long-lasting protection against the elements.
Application:
Ronseal Quick Drying Decking Oil is a water-based wood oil designed for exterior decking that nourishes and protects timber while enhancing its natural grain. It is applied using a suitable decking brush, pad, or applicator, working along the length of the boards to ensure even coverage. The surface should be clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, grease, wax and old coatings before treatment, and it’s important to test a small area first to check finish and suitability. The oil soaks into the wood to help prevent greying, splitting and weathering, and can be recoated in as little as 20 minutes with rainproof protection typically achieved in around 90 minutes under suitable conditions. Coverage is generally quoted at around 10–12 m² per litre with two coats recommended for best results.
Limitations:
This decking oil should only be applied in dry conditions, when rain is not likely and the decking is completely dry, and not in temperatures below around 10 °C as cold or damp conditions can hinder penetration and drying. It must be applied to bare wood; existing paints, varnishes or coating-type finishes must be fully removed prior to use, as the oil won’t adhere to coated surfaces. Performance and longevity depend on wood type, weather exposure and foot traffic — very damp, shaded or high-wear areas may require more frequent maintenance coats. Being water-based and quick drying, it may offer slightly less deep penetration than some solvent-based oils, so regular reapplication may be needed to maintain protection and appearance over time.
